I am currently planning on opening my own small business.. Since I love to bake, I want to sell baking tools, stuffs, accessories and such.. The problem is I don't a place or a store where I can buy the items at a low price.. I'm living in the Philippines.. I tried to search for companies online and mostly, those that I found are from the other countries.. Can anyone share anything about this?? Do you have any ideas where I can get wholesale priced items?? I would really appreciate your help mylotters..

You can always sell online. Cheap because you don;t have to pay rent, but you can have wider market online. Try first with your friends through social networking sites,, until your business spread to your friends' friends. Good luck and I hope everything turn out well. Sorry I cannot help you with the supplier.

Not a problem at all.. You all have actually been very helpful!! To start online is the common suggestion among my friends, too.. And I'm starting to work on it little by little.. I do have some customers but just very few.. Well, it's kind of a good sign since they could be of help in spreading my product..

Yes, I hope you will be successful in your business. You got your friends' support. You can also ask your blogger friends here to write articles about your business. You may also try to setup a webpage or a blogger account to have an official site for your business. Good luck!

If I were you, I would sell cakes not tools. I mean, you love to bake so it means you're good in baking. Why sell tools if you can sell cakes? I think not so many people want to bake because it takes a lot of time and effort. They would rather buy a cake than to bake. Anyway, because that is your choice, I respect that. I think this link would be helpful to you. Check http://www.gourdos.com/ .

Well, you're wrong.. hehe I don't have my own money to start up this business that I'm planning.. If everything goes well with all this planning, I will try to ask for help from an uncle of mine..Maybe he can lend me some amount.. That's why I'm really working hard to see a place where I can buy the cheapest..

It's good you have a capital to start with your business. In my case, I would really like to put up a small business but aside from capital, I also lack knowledge.

It is only my opinion, but perhaps it is better to sell the product (cake) rather than tools. Only my opinion - but I think selling food is more prospective business. :D But if you are still going to sell the baking tools and if you have no store, you can start to create your online store. You can use Facebook pages, free blogspot blog, or buy your own hosting and domain with affordable price. And as I come from different country than yours, I don't really have idea about the specific place to get wholesale priced items. For a start, I think you can go to your nearest mart, and ask the sellers there.

I do appreciate this.. It's really hard to plan something like this especially when you don't have enough knowledge about running a business.. Majority of those who commented here were right, including you, it's better to just sell the cake than tools.. lol but I still need to practice more so I can make a delicious, presentable and a saleable cake.. I'n not a pro yet.. lol

Just try to sell it to your friends.. Perhaps your cooking is already great and you just underestimate yourself.. :p

Are you from Talisay City? Is that Cebu? If yes, try going to down town area. We used to own a bakery and my dad used to buy our baking stuff somewhere in downtown.

Really?? I did try to look for it in the downtown area but I only found a few.. A friend also told me that there is a store in Carbon that sells cheaper goods.. She just can't figure out where it is located.. I'm not also sure if they have what I'm looking for..

Hi. I am also from Philippines. Let me ask, where are you now? I mean in what place here in the Philippines you are located at? If you really want to put up your own business, then you must plan about how and when to start? you need to ask yourself what type of business and how much capital you need to start. If you have passion in baking, then I'll tell you go for it. Since it is your hobby, you love to bake then there are no reasons for you to start that kind of business. A bakeshop or cake shop is definitely a best choice for you to start. If your from Cebu, I will recommend the store in front of SM Cebu wherein you can see all the baking tools, accessories and equipments that you can use for baking. and if your from Manila, there are a lot of store where you can purchase the tools and equipments and i think you can get more discounts if you buy many items. Go sis! Go for business,. start today. Hope this help you!

The classic way to go about it is to go and work in a bakery. In 6 months you will learn a lot about prices, marketing, suppliers, good and bad equipment, the general public (there are a lot of crooks out there! haha) and other interesting and useful information. Needless to say you do not announce your intention to set up on your own! You are obviously a sparky, 'get up and go' person so any employer would be delighted to employ you as you would be an asset to their company. To supply goods you need a good margin of markup to allow for the unseen problems. A comeback on one item supplied can wipe out a lot of profit on other trades. Therefore, as you know already, good buying is critical. Good luck.

Right.. Maybe it's too early for me to start something when I'm not fully equipped with all the things that I need to learn about the nature of business.. This is quite a problem for me and is also the one thing that's making me doubtful whether or not I will succeed in the industry.. Perhaps I'll take tour advise.. Thanx!

I learned from your discussion that you are from Cebu. Well, I live in another island and from what I hear, those in the food business here or restaurants buy their tools or utensils in Cebu. If you don't know where, you can try googling those suppliers on the net.

I did try and find something helpful.. But I think what you are referring to are those people who are not really from the city.. So it's kind of like an advantage for them if they sell something since they can charge a bit higher as compared if you are selling in the city itself since it's very competitive..

I think it's a good idea. If you have the passion, capital and determination I guess you will most likely succeed. You also said that you love to bake, I guess it's a passion of yours so why sell baking tools and other stuffs instead. As a starter you could bake some cakes and sell it on line or if you want to learn more about the trade you could enroll in some baking school. To complete a course the most I guess is 2 months for a beginner. Anyway, it's just a suggestion of mine.
