Pregnancy Cravings

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had some funny cravings. First of all, I could not eat meat the entire pregnancy. I could have a couple bites, but that was it. All I wanted, in my second trimester, was pancakes and sprite. Nothing else sounded good. Nothing else could satisfy me. Then in my third trimester I started craving butterfinger candy bars and grape soda. Together. Even though I ate it that way I still think its an odd combination. They say when you are pregnant with a girl you crave sweets and fruit, and when you're having a boy you crave meat and spicy foods. For me that was exactly true. Others I've talked to, they say it was true for them also. What kind of cravings did you have while pregnant? Did they follow the girl/sweets, boy/meats generalization?

I can remember my mother telling me when she was pregnant, she used to crave chocolate covered French fries, pickles and ice cream, and the most unusual, tuna with mayonnaise and pancakes. When she told me of her cravings I was instantly like, YUCK! But she said it was like her brand new favourite food at the time, afterwards, she couldn’t stand eating any of the combinations.

I know my boss just gave birth to a pre-mie baby boy and she was nonstop craving chocolate. She has 2 other boys, so she was pretty convinced that the new baby was going to be a boy (and she was right, she found out). Anyway, she was ALWAYS craving chocolate. And turtle mochas. . So that kind of blows that old wives tale into the water, huh? . I have never been pregnant... But I have some pretty strange cravings as it is. Like pickles. Mmmmmm.

I was not able to eat anything whole pregnancy vomiting. Everything smelled terrible esp. food and hot drinks. After each pregnancy I did not drink coffee for years and after the last one I never started with it anymore. I think my taste changed.
