Hi everyone I have a very complex question for ya'll... I have a 4 almost 5 month old baby girl. She started out with a small scaly patch under her neck and now it has spread to around her neck about an inch wide. Her back is also getting about dime to nickel sized scaly red patches and the back of her one leg has one about 1/2 dollar sized. They all started out small and have gotten bigger. Ive done a lot of research because I had believed her neck was drool rash and treated with desitin, powder, using bibs, using Vaseline, cortisone, a number of home remedies and nothing really seemed to work. Now I've started using s baby eczema cream on her neck and it's losing the redness and turning slighter shade of pink... My questions are as follows:
1.) Have you had a child with eczema?
2.) Do you know any home remedies or ways to treat eczema?
3.) Do you have any ideas on how to prevent eczema?
4.) Do you believe this could be something other than eczema?
I look forward to everyone's answers.....

My my...I am sorry your baby gets that redness, I was so worry about my baby get eczema the other day because her cheeks so rossy ( she is 4 almost 5 months too) I called the pediatrician and she told me to get aquaphor at CVS in case the redness spread. But I decide to go see pediatrician before I apply it on her the next day and she said that redness is not an eczema that's redness caused by her formula. I was so relieved. Maybe you can try aquaphor Kx2smommy, it might works with your baby.

Hi! I have eczema and I know how it can be. I have gotten presciption meds and creams from the doctors but what works for me is the store bought hydrocortisone creams. I'm not saying it will work for everyone though. I seem to have a stress attack and not enough Vit. D in my system, and my immune system is not up to par and then it gets me. I'm also told it is due to eating chocolate or peanuts which I believe, too. Other times I think it's an allergy to wheat as soon after I eat a sandwich I can either get a small rash or start sneezing. I have not had a child with it however. My cat has some rashes on her neck that are sores and I use this hydrocortisone cream ( there are different strengths of it and I usually buy the higher one if I can) on them too and it works for her as well. A friend of mine told me about that. I wash her affected area with a Q-Tip soaked in vinegar/water and then pat it dry and apply the cream. In a few days or so her sore is gone. This stuff is good to use for both pets and people. Babies probably as well.

My sibling has two daughters, and with the first, she had the same symptoms. First thing to do is take your child to the hospital just to make sure you are not misdiagnosing. Here is a link to a great website that provides great tips for your baby. Congratulations on your new family. http://www.raisingthem.com/lists/100033/Best_Remedies_for_Baby_Eczema
