I would like to know, what is a really good antivirus program out there. I realize no program, whether it be antivirus, malware, spyware, etc is 100% proof, but I am looking for a really good one, one that catches the hardest threats, doesnt take a lot of memory, preferably free (if possible- I know there ARE some good anti viruses out there that ARE free). Can anyone help? Im aware of AVG (dont care for it as I literally got a warning on my screen before stating I had a virus), I like Avast and had no problems w/it, but I simply got bored. I like Norton but it takes up WAY too much memory, MSE I had problems w/for some reason and Im currently using Avira, which Im not impressed w/yet. I checked out CNET and saw a program called Cloud. Any thoughts on that, or any other I didnt mention? Hope you can help. Thanks.

hi there, i have tried ESET NOD before and it was okay but i had to keep on reinstalling it because i just had the free version or whatever you call it. then i have also tried AVG and it was no good. then my boyfriend told me to delete all the other antivirus and change it to Comodo. and so far it is the best. i did a scan and i had a lot of viruses that ESET and AVG didn't get to detect. so far so good. i have no problems with it. it is also a very strict antivirus so you are really sure that you are protected. try it, and i hope it works on you too.

Your always welcome my friend. I found spy bot search and destroy a good program. That lava soft works pretty good too. And they are both free for home users. Been using them for years and never a problem with viruses. Don't know what that other user meant by getting internet security that is what windows operating system is supposed to do by using the fire wall system. But still get viruses if you don't set the fire wall up to protect against incoming stuff. Never open an email from someone you don't know better to spam it then to be sorry for opening it. And if you get an emil from someone and it don't have anything in the subject line never open it. There are people out there that don't give a hoot about crashing someones computers. Look for sites that offer free stuff for your operating system those sites can teach you so much. There is a site I use all the time it is for beginners http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2238 Hope it helps you too my friend.

I can only share from my own experiences and that is that I have used various free antivirus software and got viruses on my machine very quickly. So I decided to get Mcafee paid version and since I have had that, I have got no viruses at all. On one occasion a virus tried, but immediately got deleted by Mcafee automatically. I also have the firewall installed, and for the few dollars that it costs me each year, I feel much more secure. It automatically scans once a week and also scans for spyware. I don't think, I'll go back to free programs again as it cost me more time, money and effort than it would have cost me to pay for a good program. I don't know about other people's experiences, but that is mine.. _Derek

In my opinion there is no perfect antivirus program that created. But I suggest a good one that I used in almost five years and no experience of any malicious threat with my pc... I used different antivirus to experiment and know what is the better one and I came up with results that avira is the best with my pc...

Without question the best Anti-virus out there is Kaspersky. Hands down. Are you just looking to run an anti-virus? or are you looking for internet security, as well? Anyway you mentioned low memory Too. So I would Suggest Malwarebytes. It is Freeware and it is Wonderful. Trust me I know what I'm talking about in regards to Anti-virus Software. Ive had many problems over the years with computers. And Have fixed them all. If you want the best and are willing to pay go with Kaspersky. If you don't have the money on you and your looking for something low on your memory. Download Malwarebytes. Also just a little tip, If your looking to run this to fix your pc. Do so in safe mode, if you don't know how to run in safe mode mash the F8 key when you start up your PC.

As someone who has been married to a programmer/administrator, I surely know which AV is the best there is. Kaspersky Internet Security is the number one, and every IT professional uses it. It is the stronges AV there is, protecting you not only from viruses and malwares, but from hackers attacks as well. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but there is a trick to it: Install KIS 2012 for example, and activate your trial licence which will last for 30 days. Once this period is over, if you donĀ“t want to purchase the licence, you can deinstall KIS 2012 and instal KIS 2011, and activate new 30 days of free trial. Then install KIS 2010, 2009, or even 2013, and you will have the best possible protection, for free, and it is legal.

Very impressive information. A former client of mine uses Kaspersky and likes it. She doesnt know a whole lot about computers, but from what youre telling me, its the only way to go. Thanks for the tip on how to use it. By any chance, if theres a virus in the computer already (not sure if there is), can Kaspersky find it and destroy it?

hmm.. if you want to buy then go for Norton, Kaspersky, Mcafee or Trend Micro.. all are very good antivirus software.. I am using them from almost 10 years in various systems.. I found them useful and for malware and adwares you need to install antimalwarebytes or spybot seperately.. those are fee.. and if you looking for free antivirus.. only good I know is AVG..

as regards the free version as regards antivirus i think avg is the king but even avira and avast are ok or you can try even bit defender for example!!Personally i experienced that avg works good especially to check and repair fast any threats or viruses anyway if you are searching for an antivirus that never affect pc perfromances is not easy because normaly they affect a bit them!!

Well im using Avast. It is a good antivirus provided you update it always. I dont like AVG and mcafee. NOD32 is also good too. Just always get the most updated antivirus to ensure protection to your computer.
