I am one of those people who will claim, "I never get sick". My whole family can be running fevers, sick to their stomachs, etc. etc. and I'm the one doing it all for them. Well, guess what? I woke up about 3 a.m. with this horrific pain in my gut, it was ba-a-a-a-d! I just made it to the bathroom in time. Simultaneously shivering and shaking then feeling overheated - I finally made my way back to bed. I told my husband I was so so sick and I couldn't stop crying over my gut tearing apart - at least, that's how it felt.
One more trip to the bathroom, one more return to bed...next thing I knew it was 9:30 a.m. I always get up between 5 and 5:15 on weekdays - seven on weekends. I still felt shakey - hubby had left for work - my son helped him out - I went downstairs and took out a cold can of ginger ale and have been sipping on it. Took a shower - still feel shaky, but a little better - just can't bear the thought of eating anything.
I wonder if it's better to get sick more frequently, only not get hit as hard - or to get it all in one lump way like this?

You should get yourself checked up. You might have eaten something before you went to bed that's why your gut hurts. I felt the same before but I was sure it was food poisoning. I woke up late at night and ate the left overs from the night before. Then I woke up again a couple of hours later feeling a pain in my stomach.

Thanks, frontvisions101, but I don't think it was that. There's been something sliding around here in Baltimore and think I fell victim to it. My head aches, and I get feverish, then chills. Typical virus symptoms. Which means it will abate soon...I hope...lol.

There are points in our lives that we rarely get sick. Maybe because of proper hygiene and grooming, diet and exercise that we remain strong. When we get sick, it is our body"s reaction to something wrong going on in our system. So be thankful because it gives us a chance to cleanse ourself and repair what is needed.

That's true - and I was over it in a bit over a day - of course, now I've gotten a horrific head cold and stomach virus that's going on day four....

Thanks for this nice discussion.
I see you are 56 now, getting sick at this age particularly for ladies is common, my wife started remaining ill when she was 52, after she had menopause.
