This last weekend me and my husband went and saw Hunger Games. I don't want to give away anything but I thought it was pretty good. My husband said it stayed pretty darn close to the book. Of course other people disagree or agree with what my husband says. I like it. I've even started to read the second book since I saw the first on I don't really want to read it since I know what has happened. I already know from the internet that they are working on the second book right now and I'll be out next November.
There is some other heat from the movie where people are in my opinion are just silly. They are saying that the movie is racist because a few of the characters aren't want book had suggested or that of the people reading it. I don't think the writer was trying to be racist but when an actor gets a role weather we think he or she is right for it we have not right to cause drama because we didn't like them or they weren't what we thought they might be. I have seen plenty of movies that where made from books and some the characters that they choice to act those part I didn't see in those roles or thought they looked different. We each see characters in our head differently depending on who we read it from the writers point of view.

I don't think the parts I missed where boring at all. I don't like missing movies espeically when pregnant. But I'll see it again sooner or later when I don't have a baby growing inside of me. I thought the movie wasn't boring period. I missed Katniss meeting back up with Peeta I think that was big important part and I missed her saying good bye to her family and Gale. To me those wouldn't be boring but important. But if you thought things where boring that is fine with me but I don't think so. I find Harry Potter mostly borning all the way through the movie and I've never read the books.

I thought it did every well for the first movie. Way better then a 5 but that is your own thought. I'm much younger and closer to what the book and movie is aiming for. Some older or younger people would most likely like the movie. I thought the people they picked did better then some other films in the past from books. I give them a 9.5. I missed some parts due to being pregnant and having to pee I missed a few little things here or there. I loved the books so far and enjoying the last one right now.

Some teenagers who watched this movie told me that it may not have come close to the book it was supposed to be based on, but the movie in its entirety was pretty awesome. I plan to watch this movie with a friend this Saturday. I'm so excited ,even coming from one who hasn't even read the bestselling book.

Well those teens are wrong. It was very close to the movie so said my husband and about a million other people. There are few small things that were left out but not much stuff that can be taken out of the book and it wouldn't have made a difference either. You'll like the movie although I would say you should read the first book before seeing the movie if you can. I've read the second and third since I didn't read the first but saw it. A feel of a book to a movie can be different but it played right up to the book extremely well.

I already bought the Trilogy of these movie before it is shown in the theaters. But I never read it yet. I actually bought the first one titled "HUNGER GAMES" even before I have no idea that they are going to make a movie out of it. It was just my daughter who told me that it is coming out of the theater this year. I gave the books to her and said I'll watch the movie first before I read the books. And now after watching the movie I told my daughter, I will read the second part now before they release the part 2 of the movie. lol!

Its not part 2 to be a part it would have to broke up in two or more parts. Its a start of a new movie since its a start of a new book not the same book. My mom read the books 2 years ago, then gave it to my husband a year ago before our daughter was born to read. I just read the second and third one since I saw the first one. I was going to read the first one but didn't have time much with my daughter. So now I have to read when she is a sleep in bed but with being pregnant again I get tired easily so it's a bathroom read mostly for me. I loved the movie and will watch it again when its out on dvd or go with my husbands cousin she is reading the first one. I missed some parts when we went last week because of the pee breaks.

I haven't read the book, just seen the movie, and I can't say there was any point where I said, "That character sure seems Black" or, "Thank goodness they made those people white". I really didn't see race really playing any kind of role in the pieces... so it would be more how the actor was acting, then their race.
Interesting though, that they have different races then in the book. I think that's a good thing, showing that the people weren't thinking about race when they picked the characters

Me I say if they won the role that they are picked for then its good enough for me. I might not like who they pick but it won't be because of there skin color. I would say read the book now so you can read what parts they missed in the movie but it isn't' much is what my husband said. I didn't read the first one but I have finished the second one and it's a good read I just started the second one on Sunday. It takes me a bit longer to read since I do have a child. I'm looking forward to seeing the first move again as well Catching fire when it comes out in the theaters.
Books don't really say what the person looks like in ever little drop so its up to your brain to fill in the blacks of who you want to make them and the writer she saw them differently then we the reads will but she knows in her own mind eye what they looked like.

I haven't read the book and I'm planning to read it right after I saw the movie. Maybe that's a good thing since I don't have anything to compare the movie with but in all fairness, I loved the movie to boot!
The effect's amazing and the storyline's not draggy. I enjoyed every moment as I watch it. I was amused when my friend informed me that the female lead is actually Mystique/Mystic from XMen movies.
Maybe after reading the movie, that's when I can start comparing :D

I haven't read the first one. I skipped it since I saw the movie but I loved the movie. I thought it was well done and so did my husband. He already read the books a year ago before we know that the book was going to be a movie. My husband said there are a few little things missing but it stayed true to the book is what my husband said. So far I read the second book I loved most of the parts and I love the relationships between the the characters. Yeah they do have a lot of new people in the second and third book but its easy to fallow. I just started this week the third book. Other might finish before me because I do have a 1 year old that I take care of all day so most of my reading has to be done between her player by herself and sleeping. Since I'm pregnant again it helps to have a book to read at night time since some times I have trouble sleeping so I take the book to the bathroom so I don't keep my husband up. I didn't know she played in Xmen till after the movie was over and I looked up how she was and how Peeta was. I thought the boy that played him was really hot with blond hair. I think he is doing well for a more adult role then his kiddy movie ones.
I hope you enjoy the books as well as the future movies that they are working on for these books.

I am a movie addict too and it's one of my list to must watch movies but my boyfriend don't want to watch it because he said that it the story line not good. I asked him how does he how if he hasn't check it yet. Then he said he just know. So maybe I will just wait for a DVD copy

It's a good movie. I would go with out him and just go with a couple girls or family. Its worth seeing. If you like Harry potter or Twilight series then you will like this movie. He should read the books it is really good. Even though its a store about a girl its just as good as if it was a boy as the main star. I'm reading the last book now. Its hard to read since I do have a 1 year old so I have to read between her playing and sleeping. If you heard read the books yet I would suggestion reading it. Because there are a few things missing but not a lot. My husband loved reading the books and he read them last year before me and my mom read them 2 years ago. Now my husband's cousin is reading the books.
I'm pretty sure we are going to buy it once its out. I can't wait till 2013 when the second book is finished and out in the theaters.

I've seen the movie this weekend with my boyfriend and I can say that the stoy in the movie is more fast-paced than in the book but it's okay. Though I didn't had the same excitement like when I was reading the book, I think the portrayal in the movie is still good. I'll wait for the next movie to come out.

Yes, I agree that the movie scenes are really supposed to be faster than the book. And its's really not necessary if the movie's pacing is the same as the book so I'm okay with the pacing. I just thought that maybe they should have given a little more time in the scene where it was shown that Peeta gave the burnt bread to Katniss in the rain. I mean, non book readers didn't fully understand how Peeta saved Katniss's life with that bread.

I thought it did better then okay. It did every well for my standers. I'm excited to see the second and third one when they come out and how they make those one look and feel. I hope they keep it up well with the book like the first one did. I think the movie moved close to the same past the book. Well book speed and movie speed is hard to match well. I didn't think the movie was too speed or rushed on anything. It was every easy to fallow good thing I only missed little things when I had to pee. Baby pushing on the bladder makes it hard to sit through a movies some days.

I agree some sences should have been slow. I missed those two sences in the movie when I had to go to the bathroom but I'm sure the director heard the what people said and hopefull he slows certain things down like the one your talking about. Character development parts are important to be slowed down but not too slow. I thought some fight secens where really fast but in a book that is hard to see in my head being up to the same past. So I can see those going by really quickly like in real life.

I saw Hunger Games at the midnight showing last week. I've been a big fan of the books for ages, and I really enjoyed the movie. I think it was a pretty darn good adaptation, probably one of the best you could possibly expect from any book to film adaptation.
I think the racism controversy comes from people not realizing that certain characters in the book (Namely Rue) were actually dark-skinned in the book. Probably because Katniss elaborated on how much Rue reminded her of Prim (her caucasian blonde sister) and the fact that she was dark-skinned was sort of glossed over in favor of that. Then when these certain people saw the casting, they got upset because they didn't think Rue was black in the book. Even though she was. It's all very confusing... but I liked the movie the way that it was!

I also thought the casting was very good, and I think the girl they picked for Rue was perfect! I also liked Cinna, whose race wasn't specific in the book, but he was played so well. He's a real classy rebel.
I can't wait to see what they do for the second book too! I'm going to come to the midnight showing in costume. I don't know what costume yet, but I'll figure something out!

I thought Lenny did well for the first time I've ever seen him act. Singing is way different then acting. But I loved it any ways. I thought the Glimmer was played well by a Disney actor that drives me annoying so seeing her get killed off in the movie was no biggy for me. I think her being typed cast as that kind of person works well.
I just want to see how Peeta's and Katniss relationship unfolds on the screen. I haven't finished the 3rd book so I don't know how it ends for them but my gut feeling says they are meant to be together. Its just screams it from the first movie and from what I've read in the second book and parts of the 3rd book that I've made it through.
I love seeing strong women characters instead of a guy its a change for once and I think it'll mean a lot to a lot of young girls to know that they too can be tough and strong like guys and even make a world difference when it comes to fighting and winning a battle that might not seem to end.

The writer doesn't say play but she does say dark skin or tanner then herself so that leaves plenty of room to put in any kind of racist. I thought it did well and was every close to book as well as my husband. I agreed that it was a close adaptation to the books. A lot closer then twilight and some others. I thought the casting was every good especially since they got a lot of new actors that aren't well know just yet. Seeing this movie made me want to read the books which I have now just got one left to finish now. Can't wait to see what they do for the second book.

I think the movie was pretty good, but it could have been better. I did not like the fact that they did not keep to the book when Katniss received the mockingjay pin. I think the actors could have been chosen better. But since I loved the book I still liked the movie overall.

They can't put everything in to the movie and somethings in the book will be left out. I think it was still well done and was very close to the book.Way closer then Harry Potter which I don't like at all. You can't get a movie just like the book imposable.

I should say that this is one of the best movies ever. I was able to read the book and I agree that the movie stayed pretty close to the book but I was intrigued watching it on screen nevertheless. I am very much looking forward to the sequel coming next year!

I'm looking forward to the second book becoming a movie as well. I can't wait to see what they do with and I hope they stay with the style that they have created for the first one and the good thing is the same director is doing it unlike when it came to twilight where they have had like 3 different directors. I thought It was every close as well to the book and my husband agrees with that. For a girl as the fighter in the books my husband loved the books and loved the movie.

Unlike Books, movies require living, visible people as characters. Although it is always the directors desire to have people who are undoubtedly similar in all aspects to the characters in a novel, this is usually not the case. Character selection is dependent on so many factors including, the budget of the movie and availability of the actors. It has therefore got nothing to do with race.

For some people it does mean it's race but I don't think it matters. If that person places that role well then it really doesn't matter. Some times they are looking for a certain look but that is up to the direction and stuff like you said there are factors that go into it.
