A 'laundry woman' at home? What does this mean, a maid? Washing your own clothes won't kill you . Maybe the color is fading because you are washing them in too hot of water. Try washing them in cold water, clothes & colors tend to last longer that way. Best of luck to you..

I guess that shows how poor I have grown up. The only laundry lady I have ever had my my mother. But back when I was a child we didn't have a washer so she either hand washed them or took them down to the laundry mat to get them done. I wear my clothes until they fall apart mostly. The only time I ever paid attention to it was when I was in the military and had to keep my uniforms looking nice. If your not saving money then go with the laundry lady. I would rather help someone with a job then support large corporations by purchasing more clothes more often.

Washing machines really wear out clothes faster. You should check the type of material of your clothes. Some are really meant to be hand-washed if you want them to last longer. Actually, there are clothes that come with specific instructions not to be machine-washed. Detergents also can cause clothes to fade faster so you better check the detergent you're using also. Actually, you could really cut down on your expenses when you do your own laundry than hiring someone else to do it. And you don't really need to buy new clothes if you hand-wash some of them instead of using the washing machine.
