Holy week is so fast approaching for sure for those who are Catholics like me, for sure you will also be very excited, in my family we do not cook food with pork in it so basically what we cook is commonly rice cakes, chicken, more of fish dishes and melon or buko juice it is as if we are not really fasting. But this is an event that I always look forward to every vacation because of the some how festive activities and all my relatives are going home and I would be able to see all my cousins.

We don't know if we can go home to our province this Holy Week. What I really like in our province about food in Holy Week are the rice cakes like bibingkang kanin and suman being cooked on either Friday or Saturday. Basically we are not allowed to eat pork so we are having mostly fishes (broiled or inihaw) and vegetables (dinengdeng). About fruits, watermelon, melon and Indian Mango (with shrimp paste) are the fruits of the season.

Dinengdeng is a native Ilocano dish. It is just boiled vegetables with fish sauce (bagoong), best done with broiled fish. It can be easily prepared. Try to search some recipe on the net so you can cook it also.

this is a nice question. although i do not cook, i always would like to know what is being cooked and being prepared for the meal. now that it is holy week, the more that i want to know what i will eat in the season. of course, it should be meat-free and healthy.

Me and my husband will be staying at home so I will have to cook for us. I have to do the groceries before rush hours. I plan to have chicken feet adobo, sinigang na bangus, tortang giniling, fish escabeche and fried galunggong.

Us too, me and my family. Since last week, we haven't eaten any meat yet. So it's like two weeks without meat! But I actually like it since I'm not really fond of eating meat. I'm more of a vegetable person. So we always eat vegetable and fruits as side dishes to the rice.
