Once you get to the track you can pick up a betting form and it will give you examples of bets on them. You must start by knowing what race you want to bet in most have about 8 different races but they do race in order. Then you want to know what horse you want to bet on and know it's number. Next you need to know how you want to bet and how much you want to bet on each horse. Here are some examples of bets. Race 1: $2.00 on 5 to Win You will be betting $2.00 and if 5 comes in first you win. *When you bet to win most start at $2.00. Race 2: $1.00 on 1 and 2 to Place When you bet to Place you are betting on what horse you think will come in first and second. If 1 comes in first and 4 comes in second you don't win anything for only guessing horse 1. *Most bets start as low as $0.50. Race 3 $1.00 on 3,4,5 to Show When you bet to show you are picking what horses you think will come in first, second, and third. To win you must guess them in order. If the results are 3,5,4 you don't win anything because you didn't guess in order. There are more bets you can make but these are the basic ones. When you place your bet you can do it on a betting form you give to the teller or just tell them what you want. Betting is really easy to do and you don't have to bet a lot to win a lot. $20 or $40 can go a long way at the racetrack. Try to mix it up with many bets in the same race with the same horse. If you like number 2 horse to come in first place a Win bet and it and match the 2 horse with another horse to Place.
