Grumbling, tossing and turning and muttering aggressively at nothing, my other half was a little restless last night. I asked him to settle down and I got told to 'eff-off'... I gave him a pat on the shoulder and told him to relax and then it hit me.... Or rather - he did! Open handed, heel of the hand straight on my eye... I was both stunned and in pain... Tears stinging my eyes and next thing - Snoooooooore.... He was sound asleep!
He was very surprised and apologetic this morning when I informed him of his little 'mishap' in his sleep
So, does your other half beat you up in his sleep, or vice versa?

When I was just married, my husband gave me a sound kick on the butt while sleeping. I was pregnant with our first child and luckily it was more comfortable for me to sleep with my back towards him. He was then a professional soccer player and sometimes it seems that he replayed the games while sleeping. So jhe kicked me as if I had been a soccer ball, I woke up yelling, he woke up and was more than worried. He never slept so soundly for the rest of his life. I think he was more scared that I was.

I could never compete with the muscles of a pro soccer player. But then, I did not want to either. And as for violence when awake, he was gentle as anyone would have wished.

Oh my God, I'm glad you had your back to him. I've had a few digs in the stomach from my man on occasion from knees gone astray in the bed, but nothing ever severe. I sometimes wake up with new bruises on my legs, but then, so does he - I can give as good as I can get in my sleep apparently lol

He was probably fighting in his sleep, it happens. I don't why some men are so restless when they sleep maybe because they have active dreams. I can't sleep with my husband lots of times because he is very restless and snores and it keeps me awake. Do you have a good shiner, then? Put something cold on it, it'll be fine, wear dark glasses for awhile, I suppose.

Oh it's ok, there's no visible bruising, it's just very tender and somewhat sore. I think he's more embarrassed than I am in pain haha

My husband has done a couple of strange things like that in the past one time he hit me in his sleep and then like your boyfriend laid back down and was snoring a way. He had no idea he had done it until I told him in the morning. Another time he sat straight up and said, "You Bi***" then laid back down and started snoring again. He had no idea he had done that either. He felt really bad the time he hit me. He thought sitting up and calling me that in his sleep was funny though. He very often talks in his sleep though. I have even asked him questions when he is sleeping and he answers me. Of course the answers don't always make sense but I find it kind of funny.

Same here, I have talked to him while he's sleep talked, but he's done the same when I'm chatty at 3am yet still sound asleep. My other half told me one night he'd love to 'rip the knickers off that one', about a girl he has nothing but contempt for lol. They're strange creatures!

My grandparents slept in separate rooms for as long as I could remember too. They raised me and I actually slept with my grandmother for a long time. They were together for many many years so it didn't bother them either..they just figured out how to get some rest.

Ah bless, your poor dog lol. My fella usually bears the brunt of my restless nights, but every once in a while he's the one playing whack-a-mole in the bed and I end up bruised the next day. It only happens a few times a year, not worth retreating to the sofa on a permanent basis for.
I get the feeling that in years to come, we're going to be one of these couples that sleeps in separate beds. My oma & opa (granny & granddad) slept in separate beds, didn't do their relationship any harm and they both got a good night's rest most nights!

Kids can be so crazily active in their sleep! I've had one or two of the kids in the family in our bed on occasion and it is definitely an interesting night. My own can stay in their own beds when I get to that stage in my life!

OMG, are you alrite? I thought that said he was awake at first when he did it. I would never sleep next to a guy who did that in his sleep, he is dangerous, LOL. I would have his butt on the couch. I know he probably didn't know what he was doing but dang it. That is still crazy. I have never had that happen thankfully. Did you put some ice on your eye??

Lol, no, when I came back to my senses and heard him snoring I just went right back to sleep. It sill smarts somewhat today, but at least I don't have a black eye!
He's had to deal with some night terrors from me over the years, though they have settled and rarely occur, I've never managed to beat him up in my sleep though I have had him sleep on the couch the odd time, only because I've kept him awake with my incessant talking, tossing & turning.
