I'm a roman catholic. Since I was small I my mother teach me to pray before I go to bed. I did that until I reach first year high school or second year high school. After that I stop praying and that for the last 20 years I stop praying. Did I loss faith? I maybe. But I still do believe that theirs some one out their looking for me. Guiding me.

That's good. Me I do that before. But I guess because of so many problems that come to my life I just loss hope. I'm not born rich but I can say we have some money and position in the government and many respect us. But since if your parents has money the tendency of children is to spend thinking that money will not going to drain but combining with health issues and with no steady incomes. I guess 25 years later all the money is gone along with the power and friends that you thought they are your friends.
Then I guess even prayers is hard to do.

That's true. But when we are in trouble for five years and every day you pray and hope for change and nothing come. I guess you will also going to stop praying. But to be honest. When I was happy I do pray and thanks God for the joy that I receive. I don't know what God plan to me. Maybe He is just testing my faith. Its five hard years and still no chance of recovery but lots of disappointments.

when someone is happy, he or she tends to forget to thank God for all the blessings and just everything. it is usually only when we are troubled and have so many problems that we think about Him and pray really hard for Him to help us. Sad but true.

hi bulastika.
up to now, i still say a prayer before i go to sleep. i've also taught my daughter to do the same. even though i go home tired i still say a prayer and thank the Lord for the blessings i received during the day. i've also grown accustomed to saying the rosary every morning. sometimes, i pray immediately when i wake up, sometimes during my commute to work. i've also gotten into the habit of saying a prayer for my daughter before i leave for work everyday. i pray that she is guided throughout the day and she is safe and away from harm.
prayer is indeed a very powerful act.

That's good. Before I do pray rosary every 6pm. But that was before. I don't know what happen to our family. Maybe because of financial problem and because most if not all of our prayers has not been answered we just get tired of praying. For five years I pray to find a job and I find none. All look promising but none really turn into reality.

And its seems theirs no more future left in me. Spending 15 years in school only to find work for three years and that's it after that 5 years has pass still no works.

That's good. Anyway what is your religion? And what path do you follow Him? Me I tried to follow Him. Problem is that every time I step His steps I loss my footing. And every time I tried to struggle to stand up I end up trap in the mud. And I don't know when will someone going to walk is way also and see me trap and help me stand up again. I guess the path our Lord Jesus Christ walk in has few passer by.

honestly my parent never teach me to pray even at night. my mom works hard for us that most of the times we are asleep when they got home. but i ahve learned to pray on my own every single night. and now that have my own son, as early as 1 year old, i have taught him to pray every night before he sleeps. we do need to pray even for s short time because its a way to communicate to God. it does need to be long but a simple thank you will do because God knows what are hearts desire. we need not to voice out them all.

Its nice that even if you are not taught by your parents to pray you learn how to pray and you pass it to your son. Its really a good way to help your son grow strong and obedient. Because a person who do pray can express their feeling more than a person who don't pray. Because if you can open yourself to God then why not to a person right?

I was thinking about this a couple of weeks ago. And I am also guilty that I am not praying anymore before I sleep nowadays. I think it started during collage. I used to pray every single night when I was in high school but when I attended the University that practice seemed forgotten. I only pray at times, when it crosses my mind before I shut my eyes. But even though I'm not praying that often now, my faith's still there. Nothing changes.
You said you still believe that there's someone out there guiding you, well, I believe you don't lose your faith at all. :)

And even if I pray sometimes it just for the sake of praying. Gone are days when I pray with my heart. Now its seems if Ever I pray I pray for ht sake of praying. I pray because I can. My mind and heart just can't focus anymore. I guess we need faith in order to pray with our hearth wholly

I don't think you've lost faith as much as I think you've become slack in prayer at bed time. You know that you've lost your faith by how dedicated you are to it as a whole.

I guess I don't loss faith then. I just loss hope. Because I'm sure I do. Five years ago I'm top of the world. I can spend money without thinking where to pay my creditcards. Now I'm broke with 2,000 dollars debt. I know in some its a small amount. But I'm living in a third world country. that the minimum to salary is only 2 dollars a day. So just imagine how big 2,000 dollars to me.

I think most probably you can try the prayer by talking to the God. I think Jesus is always there for you and loves you. Start talking to God like talking to your best friend. Jesus is our best friend. Try to talk to God with all the problems and all the sins and all the things you want to do. Talk to God like someone who loves us who is our friend and who cares for us. I think Jesus will answer you. When we lost faith ask God to give us more faith.

Than that whole my life. I even enter seminary when I was in high school. And I think what you have advise to me I done that already many times over and over. But sometimes you will going to reach the point in which you need to face reality. If a ship is sinking. Will you going to hold a bible or a log?

At least he still goes to heaven. lols
Actually if you put logic and argumentative discussion. Its not his fault. I mean why did God did not introduce himself that He is saving him? As he keeps insisting that God will save him. So why not tell him that?
But even Jesus Christ in His dying cross ask this question. "father why have you forsaken me".

I'm not a Catholic anymore but I still give thanks for all the triumphs & trials. When I "supplicate",I do it in a form of giving thanks as if it already happened. And it does happen.Religion doesn't matter but your faith does.

I'm religion neutral.Sorry but you can't force me to embrace any religion.IMHO,religion is just a belief system.A lot of religions are misleading people & are causing them to live in fear. That's why I became neutral.Bash me all you want.I don't care.

I'm I that prejudice? You just said in your post that your not catholic anymore. So I thought you just chance religion or something. Because in the end of your paragraph in your first post you said "religion doesn't matter but your faith does." that's why I ask what is your religion since faith does come somewhere right? Anyway I'm conservative in practice but liberal in thinking.

So what is your religion? Religion does matter. Because Religion is your faith. How can you have faith if you your self don't see the true value of your religion. Religion is like a school. Each school has different method of teaching. And you can say that it does not matter what school you come what matters is the teaching. But school is teaching.
That's how we develop our faith through the teaching of our religion.

It really does not matter what you think what matters is what do our religion teach us. So in this case its only the priest can answer this question. But for example my religion is roman catholic and under then commandments theirs only three rules for God and seven rules for man. And one of the rules for God is to go to church every sunday. So its only shows that prayers is very important.

My parents taught me to pray ever since I started talking, and we always did it before sleeping..I still do it until now, I don't really know why, I just can't sleep well if i don't pray before.. it gives me time to think about the happenings in the day too.

That's good. At least you can sleep with a smile in your face. Me I can't smile anymore. I guess I'm just tired of praying and seems none of my prayers has been answered. I have a great faith before. I even try to join seminary. But sad to say I'm not good in academic so I drop out. But do faith need to be good in academic to serve God?
Maybe because of that disappointment I just stop praying.

I am a born again christian. Me and my husband pray before we say good night to each other. It is very important that you thank God for all the blessings He gave us. We also are asking for God to protect our assets and us while we are asleep. And also that we don't get bad dreams but only nice sleep and rest.

That's true. Sometimes praying give us good mood. Good mode give us good motivation and good motivation give us something that make our life more lighter. Many think that life is full of challenges but sometimes its up to use how we accept challenges. Because in life it does not matter if you have no assets what important is that your happy.

I still pray before going to sleep except for the times that I am really tired and my mind will automatically shutdown. There were also time that I fell asleep while praying in my mind. I do not go to church daily nor on every sunday but I make it to a point that I have to say my thanks and voice out my frustrations in Him.

I guess when we have problem we always talk to Him. But if we are enjoying life we forgot about him. I know its hard to have a good life. 90% of people have financial problems. And those 10% have problems on how to spend their money. lols. But over all its in GOD that we can find peace of mind.

Prayer is a very important part of a believer's life. In the Bible, the disciples observed Jesus Christ has this habit of prayer. So, one day, while they are together, they said, "Lord, teach us to pray." That's the start of their prayer life. Jesus gave us a model prayer where we can learn what to pray and how to pray. It is a means of communication with God. I learned to pray biblically, when I personally decided to put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord of my life. Religion has nothing to do with my relationship with my Lord.

Religion has nothing to do with your relationship to your Lord? So who is your Lord? Because theirs so many religion. Theirs Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and many more. If you say religion has nothing to do with it. Then that means you don't know who is your Lord at all. Because religion is our Lord. That's why its called religion.

Sometimes you look too far that you don't see where your standing. Theirs so many religion. Roman catholic, Protestant, Roman Orthodontics etc. they are all believe in Jesus Christ. But each religion has its own teaching that contradict from each other belief about Jesus Christ and yet they all believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord.
If you believe in Jesus Christ you need faith and in order to develop faith you need teaching and in order to be teach you need a teacher and in order to have a teacher you need a church and church represent religion.
You can't just open a bible and say that I have faith. Because even Holy Bible have different version depends on what religion using it.

My Lord is Jesus Christ, who came down from heaven, become man, endured the cross to pay the penalty of my sins. On the third day, He rose again to show me that when I trust Him, He has the power to give me life - eternal in the heavens. That's my Lord. Religion didn't die for me. Religion is not my Lord.

prayer is the way we communicate our God, when you stop praying it means you stop communicating Him. In everything you give thanks and give praise to Him. I suggest that before going to sleep you should pray to thanks for all the blessings and everything He done to you the whole day.

That's true. This is how we talk to God. By praying. My last confession is 1990. Just imagine that. that's almost more than 20 years ago. Although when I was young I'm a very religious person. I studied in religious school. But I guess angels do loss their wings.

Just always believe that He's there all the time. Sometimes you realize that even if its not your intention to pray you'll just knew that there comes a point that you're actually praying to Him. Believing in Him, Praising Him and Asking help from Him are the key factors that we Remembers Him. God loves us all.

I guess so. Sometimes when we see a freak accident we exclaim. "Oh my God!" lols. I guess that's also a sign of prayers we just don't realize it. Or if we are eating and we really have a full meal and we burp we say "Thanks God!". lols.
Life is full of surprises and even if we don't think its going to happen it do happen and sometimes we pray sometimes we don't but bottom line God don't forget us.

So guilty about it! I am a christian and we practice praying a lot not only before going to bed, even before eating, after waking up, and even before leaving for work or school. DO I DO IT? NOT AT ALL! and I know I screwed up, maybe that's why god is always giving me some problems a lot for me not to forget him. That's how he love me so much.

I'm surprise that when I open this thread theirs a lot or response in this thread. I never thought that this simple daily routine will be interested on by posters.
I guess in modern world, with this new technology and social life. Time for us is so short that by not praying we save time by doing something else.
Although I want to teach myself again how to pray regularly I really don't know why suddenly I'm so lazy to do it.
