I got a secret!!!!!!

Okay.. I’m not supposed to say anything yet, but I’m just dying here. I have a secret… a couple of people know about it already. I don’t want to jinks it, because the deal isn’t done until the fat lady sings, so to speak. Okay… If the closing happens in the middle of may… I’ll be moving to a nice home. Actually me and the family will be moving. We are going to have to tighten our belts, because the family will be paying a big hunk and I’ll be paying a smaller hunk.. plus buying food. However, I made it clear that I would only fork out so much money a month on food, and if they weren’t satisfied with the grub, they would have to put in some grocery money too… so I figure with what I have to pay for part of the house payment and the food, will be what I pay on food here anyway. They’ll be eating a lot of beans and rice, that’s for sure. Like it or not.. that’s the way it will have to be at least a time or two a week.
To make a long story short, this place we are at now is not really livable. There are lots of problems and it might get condemned due to the septic problem here. It can't be fixed due to the high water table. Where we will be living will have city sewage.. yayyyyy!
your thoughts?

Still, you could plant a couple tomatoes or pepper plants in pots on your porch.

No... There is an acre but it is all azaleas and dogwood trees. Not sure if a veggie garden will be in the plan. We have mostly woods in the back yard. There is a yard swing back in the woods just before the trees get thick.

Moving always seems to make us have to tighten our belts, but if you will be getting into a nicer, safer place, then tighten away. I am sure we could eat much less expensively here, and will have to next month, probably. Happy for you, jumping up and down and cheering.

Yes it's a big ranch house with a full basement. The house is 1600 square feet not counting the basement. It has 2 full bathrooms. It has a Florida room, a living room, kitchen and breakfast room. It also has a formal dining area and 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms will be my office.

Hi PointlessQuestions, That is very good news and I hope that it all works out for you and your family. Everyone needs a good place to live and I hope that the other problems are resolved as well. A lot of times people take such things for granted, but we never should. I grew up without indoor plumbing but I've had the convenience of town water and sewage for so long now, that I rarely think about it anymore. Blessings.

We always had plumbing when I was growing up, but I had a neighbor that didn't have a bathroom. They had an outhouse. We do tend to take things for granted. I try hard not to.

How great to read such a postive topic!
I am so happy for you and reading through the comments it does sound like you are going to be a beautiful place in lovely surroundings too. I am so happy for you!
Curiousity though: what is a 'Florida room'?

Gosh that sounds so perfect!
I guess we would call it a 'conservatory' over here.
I want one too!

Aunt D, here is the Florida room.. I took the pic through from the living room, so you are looking through the door to the Florida room.

Hi Aunt D! A Florida room is a sun room. It's all windows from floor to ceiling. There are also two glass doors with wrought iron fixtures. It's just beautiful.

Well a thousand congrats to you! I am happy to hear you will be moving out, and while the belt will be tightened you will be in a safer and healthier place. Is there anyway you can get food stamps or the such? That would help a bit. Couponing might be another thing you want to try to pick up. I've heard that it can like a second income if one is very good at it.

I'll be shopping mostly at Save a Lot. You save about 30% there. Ill also do shopping some at walmart. Yes I'll do coupons when I can. SAL doesn't do coupons because of their savings.

Yep. I know what you mean. I'm not a bank. We are in dire straights right now until I get paid. I refuse to go borrow money just to buy groceries when I get paid on Wednesday. I have rice and beans. If they don't want to eat it, I'm sorry but I'm not going in debt just to put food in the house. I already suggested to SIL to buy enough to get us to Wednesday and I would put that amount of gas in his car. He went to sleep after working all day. Hope he will take me up on it. If not they will be hungry unless they decide to eat rice.

That is the agreeable thing you do to moved out. I'm happy now that we already moved out from our small and messy place before. It is like we live in a match box and no space for a nice furniture. There is also lots of unwanted visitors like big rats and cockroaches and even mosquito, because of the place is so small and crowded. Now that we already moved in my new house, like you I have to tighten my belt too since it is nice and big I have to pay for a big rent.

That is great! Congratulations to you and your family. I am so happy for you. I know what it is like to live in a place that is not comfortable. I do hope that all goes well and the entire transaction is smooth. Blessings to you and yours!

Thanks so much. It will be a relief not having to step over extension cords and to finally have room to work. It will be a relief not having to plunge the toilet every time I use it.

Oh dear..and I thought you were in a decent place sally..
I am happy for you sweetie..and I hate mentioning this but...
If you are contributing for purchasing the house in cash or kind, then
you should also some rights to its title.
Tomorrow your folks throw you out, what good would it have done? Is it possible to get the ratio mentioned? Try to do that if it is necessary. Ok?
I dont know how your family relationships are. I am responding based on your previous discussions and this one. So please ignore this if it sounds harsh.

Verything is okay Vandy. Thanks. Actually we are leading this house with the intention of buying it from son in law's mom. She is an investor and bought the house. The closing is mid April. We are just crossing our fingers that the closing happens without a hitch. Everything is done except for the closing. We will have a lease agreement.

that's great news! I actually experienced living in this pad which me and my girlfriend called a "stink house". I mean, literally. Outside our unit (I kept my own unit clean of course), roaches were everywhere, it wasn't really clean, and there's only a common restroom that everyone from other units also use. And the worst part is, the landlord is such a drunkard, there was actually this one time when he got so drunk, and he needed to use the restroom for something, and when I used it next, there were poo all over the place. POO! After that I moved to a new area instantly.
Going back to your experience, well that's a great idea! Why live in someplace that you won't really be comfortable, right?

That's awful. I'm glad you moved. It's a matter of a have to for us. I really didn't want to move again in my lifetime, but I will be glad to because this house is awesome.

You seem to be more worried about the grocery bill than moving. Don't worry, I'm sure you can work it out. I hope you have a good move to a better place. We moved this year and although it's bigger and we have more privacy , it's going to be a long while until I get my kitchen and bath renovated because my husband and his partner are so busy with other projects right now. Good luck, with you new place, I hope you like it better than the old one.

I will love it. It's something to be proud of. So open and airy. It will be the nicest home I'll ever live in. I've lived in nice homes. My dad built 3 homes I've lived in from the time I was born. This home is beyond anything my dad was capable of building.

Personally my friend, this is awesome News. I really am wishing you the Best, and hope everything will work out for the best. Are you all going to be buying? This is exciting, and if you have all worked out a plan that will work for all of you, and you will all be able to continue to get along, this is Great. I know many times you continuously hear the story that so many times people have to be Happy with where they live to be able to be happy with life from there.

Hiya PQ,
So glad for you too and that is a very lovely Florida Room I would be in there if I could most of the time.
Only bug cleaning all the Windows?
I have read about what you say the House is like and I am sure you will all be very happy there once you settle in.
Have lived in some bad places too and there is nothing like the feeling of relief of when you can say goodbye to them for good and live somewhere more decent.
Enjoy your new Home PQ you deserve it all of you.xxx

dear PQ hope it works out as you hope and plan when it comes to the expenses. You know they like to exploit you and squeeze you out like a lemon to the extent they wont even consider your needs but only their own.
So I am doubtful when it comes to having beans and rice twice a week as you think.... they are not mature enough to see that they will only have to cut back on their fave junk as long as the place isnt paid off......
