I really woke up at the wrong side of the bed. Really. But then, i feel good when i woke up, took a bath well..even ate. But then things took a bit of a turn, found my son having fever - but then i told myself it isn't that bad, just a mild case of fever, gave him medicines and gave him breakfast before i left for work. Then work time.. i mylot to give me a good boost.. was happy as i know i made it payout as well but then again, work started and hell poured it wrath on me. I was consolidating data for my report and alas!!! some data are not there some that I myself even made sure were there first week of March!!! some data i didn't know why were gone grrrrr i contacted IT and he said, must be a glitch of a system, much worse backup don't have it either. dammnnittt.. so i had to type it again, good thing my officemates helped me phew ( as i helped them too).. things are going fine. phew. then..boss called me in the office and announced that my leave wasn't approved. WHATTT??? i worked my as* of - not even getting myself absent for more 3 whole months and i am not approved? he said yes, we cannot. dammnitt! I want to be absent on the 4th and 7 th as these are my kids birthdays.. 5th and 6th april are holidays so i applied those leave dates as i want it to be a whole week off atleast to get time with the kids more...but he didnt approve the 7th!! only the 4th. dammnnnittt!! and now i feel some anxiety attack. darn

Bad luck ! Offices are closed on Saturdays here, but if you ask a holiday for a Friday, the Saturday is also counted and they deduce 2 days : don't ask me why! Somewhere, you should be proud to be considered as an essential employee by your boss if he does not want to give you this Saturday. Maybe you should wait Sunday to celebrate your kid's birthday ? You will certainly find a solution with a cool head : you had too much troubles today.

wow that is pretty complicated..why would you deduct 2 days when you only leave for one day? confusing. anyways, we decided to do all the fun stuff in just one day, since next Sunday will be Easter Sunday, therefore we will be celebrating it all in one day, including my husband's birthday which will be on the 9th of April..too much birthdays!

That is a weird way to do it, but I wonder whether or not it is similar to how some businesses do it here. In many places, you have to work the day before and the day after a holiday in order to get paid for that holiday ... assuming you do not have to work on the holiday, that is. Some businesses count previously approved leave as "working", but others will not accept leave as having worked, even if the leave is approved in advance, so you do not get paid for the holiday.

It is not exactly the same for a holiday here : it is paid, at least to employees with permanent contracts, but not always deduced from holidays if it happens during them, depending of the business.

It is sad that you did not get the birthdays of both of your children approved, especially since they are so close together and the one was approved. I hope that you will be able to explain to your child, and you can celebrate the birthday on a different day and make the entire day special, but maybe you can do something small to celebrate on the actual birthday, such as letting your child choose what you have for dinner.

i was responding to a discussion earlier, about how stable working in the government. of course, i laid out all i know about being a state worker. and even before i made it in the government post, i worked more than 10 years with 3 private business firms. and yes, this is one thing i dislike with the private companies, about getting absent, prepare for the long holidays. when in the government, as long as there will have a skeletal force to man the office for that period, for that long holidays, everyone can go on leave, as long as you have enough leave credits left. leave credits by the way accumulates, everyday. so you will earn more at the end of the year. and at the end of your service, when you retire, you can even convert those leave credits to cash. oh by the way, government offices are closed on saturdays and sundays. one thing i also like with the government job, unlike with private companies that usually open six days a week. so how is your son doing right now? hope he's feeling better now and fever goes gone.

I do agree, i ranted about this when i arrived home and my mom encouraged me more to work for the government as i am qualified for that since i did pass my civil service exams, i am actually thinking about that. But as of now, this is what i have and this is what i have to endure for the meantime. And yes, we do work for 6 days a week which is pretty tiring, sunday is left not even for leisure but for house hold chores. crazy. My son still has fever, last night it was a bit high but i gave him medicines for it and my dad who believe in "hilot" had someone over this morning and hopefully he will be better, he said he might just some "pilay" as he was running and jumping around too much

That sounds really crummy. I hope the rest of your day, or week, gets better. Good news is that it's Friday. I have had a week that's kind of like that. Crappy. I am ready for the weekend & ready to start over with a fresh new (better) week. Happy MyLotting!

That is the bad side of having a job. You cannot get time off to be with kids when you need to. I hope things get better for you.

Tell me about it. I don't have easy day myself too. I work my as* off the whole day, and I didn't get lunch. I suppose to get my work done before this week end, but somehow the work station wasn't work, and the IT department personnel can't fix it within a day. I might have to wait until Monday to get in early in the morning to get my things done early.

I also get dissapointed when my request for leave gets to be rejected. I totally agree that this is one of your bad days. I had mine yesterday, anyways, do deep breathing and condition your mind. We sometimes cant have it all, calm yourself and work out a plan to make up for the day not approved by our boss. You will be more at peace if you accept your boss decision and start devising your plan. You will find a way. If there's a will, there's a way. :p

That happens sometimes, waking Up on the wrong side of the Bed is all a mind game, if you succumb to these thoughts they will ruin your day, it dosn't have to be the wrong side of the Bed if you don't make it that way.
