We constantly get in touch with our 21 year old daughter studying in a far metropolis ,thru text and call. We were surprised the other day, when we open FB, to see her sporting a short hair! And she looked so young that you would say she can pass for a 12 year old. We right away called her to confirm it. And to think, that if we haven’t seen her on facebook, we wouldn’t know that her long straight hair is now gone.

I suppose that short hair lets your daughter look both miles younger and bright and brave.I can't help thinking that people are much better informed and that they can see online quite a lot even though they live far apart from each other, since the advent of the Internet. I have no FB account so far,but then for me ,it is of no use.

It's at this kind of thing that i like FB. It lets me see the present way a relative, family member or a friend who are far from you, looks.

Trust me I went through a similar experience with my brother-in-law. Approximately a month ago, he started talking about getting a new tatoe with his fathers and mothers zodiac signs. A week passed by and he never mentioned it again, so we figured that phase in his life had passed, boy was I wrong, two weeks later, he's showing off his tatoe on FB. My hubby immediately called him and asked him, why he didn't tell him he was going to get it or at least send him a pick before he posted it up on FB. He actually lives in California, so we don't see him often, which sucks, so the way we see each other is either through pics we send back and fourth or like you said FB.

Fb has once again proved its advantage to such cases. But it's surprising how others cannot just say i look like this and that thru text or phone, but would definitely publish it on FB. FB sometimes becomes an avenue to flaunt some new looks, new places we go and express our feelings through shout out.

You are totally right!!! It seems like lately people tend to post everything they do first on FB and then they decide to notify others. FB has definitely made changes on how we communicate with people.

fortunately, it is just hair. its not as bad as a tattoo or a body piercing, the hair will grow back. my 18 year old (by accident bought the wrong hair dye!) coloured her hair a fairly bright red (which she has to live with until she gets enough money for a new dye!) hubby was a bit upset and i told him the same thing i told you.

Oh, well our daughter's wildest thing that has done with herself so far is just that. But i have once suggested to her too, of having her hair colored lighter brown, but she doesn't want. She said it might harm her hair.

i think she just want a new look, a summer look. besides, the weather is extremely in its hottest these days. my 15 year old boyish daughter also mentioned she needs a new hair. are you a PBB fanatic or have you seen any of its episode? i think my daughter is a fan of Divine who is lesbian.

Oh yes, i get to watch PBB once in a while when i am not yet sleepy at night. Divine is too beautiful to be a lesbian. But i admire her because she seemed so in love with her girlfriend, and vice versa. I didn't ask my daughter why she had her haircut. She was even so against in my nudging her to have it cut even at shoulder length, hence i was surprised by the short haircut that she has today. And i came to know about it , only on FB!

Girls cut their hair for a reason...maybe you should ask her further as to the real reason why she did so

She will be going home soon, as it is already their school vacation. But she said with a bit of regret, that by cutting it short , it seemed to make her straight hair a bit curly.

i used to remember my dad was the one who wants my hair so long and shiny and he would be the one to cut my hair and take care of it..but when i was in my teens i got a bit edgy and want to have it layered in different sizes and when he saw it i thought he would have a heart attack

my husband dislike me also having short hair..he likes it long too..weird huh? i like it in different styles, depending on my taste for that time hahaha sometimes i like it short and layered, i was even thinking of having it pixie cut but then my hubby might totally dislike it

What's with most men that they don't like their girls to be sporting a pixie hair? Maybe, they like it that way, so when they go together, it could easily be identified as to who is the guy? Except , if the girl is really curvaceous, then the pixie hair wouldn't matter at all.

Why do most men like long hair for women? My husband when we were just newly wed , cringe seeing me had my hair cut short. From then on, i always have my hair as short as shoulder length only.

Hi SimplyD So FB gave you a sweet shocker Though personally I love Long hair (Even I had some long hair until 6 months back), I think if it goes with you, you should have a different style. it is good that your daughter looks younger and 21 becomes 12... I wish I and my wife too has some miracles of this kind btw, what about your hair? Have you tried a different hairdo anytime?

I did not have that long hair to look like a rocker or hermit. I had a little longer than my shoulders (about 4-5 inches down the shoulder) and I did a pony tail many a times. Some people liked it and many opposed as they said man is not supposed to have long hair.. I fail to see their logic. But then managing the long hair was hectic yet I loved it. Today, I have smaller hair but am sure in the next few months they would grow longer again.

Oh yes, i saw some men in pony tail. It looks good on them, because they are neat to look at anyway. And it doesn't make them less manly in any way because they know how to carry it . You look good also with the short hair sids.

Yes, that was really a big surprise. I had to text her right away, to ask if it is for real or just a wig? Well, i have to thank FB for that, because my daughter had it for quite sometime, yet she didn't notify me. As for me, i sported a very short hair when i got married to my husband. He cannot complain about it, because i am to be his wife. I guess, since i am old now, the shortest that i would have is shoulder length. That way, when it's hot, i can have it in pony tail. Hmm, i can't imagine you having a long hair. I have this notion that men with long hairs are rockers or a hermit?

Getting one's hair cut short isn't that much of a change; I'm surprised that she didn't dye it an interesting color like many college students do. If she wants to really shake things up, she'll shock you with some body piercings or a poorly considered tattoo. If you keep that closely in touch with her all the time, she may very well do something wild just to prove that she is her own person; I don't know very many 21-year olds who want "constant" contact with their parents.

My daughter is just a simple girl. She don't even want a medium length haircut, so i was really surprised to see her sporting that short hair at FB. I have to call her to ask if it was indeed cut short or just a wig. Finally, she opted for a new hairstyle, other than the long straight hair.

Facebook's brought a whole new dimension to conversation hasn't it? Now instead of just words, we can exchange pictures with not just one but many people at once. We can plan events and play games with friends and family, despite distance.

That's true my friend. That's what i like with facebook best. It becomes an avenue for us to be able to know what's happening to the life of your love ones who are away from your sight. See, i was able to see how my daughter looks, even if she's afar, without me having to see her in person.

Hello D! I'm surprised that you get affected by your daughter's new look. You're so used with the way she looked and everybody seemed to be surprise with the sudden change. I've changed my hairstyle every now and then since i was young. From long i'd suddenly cut it short, too short like a boy's. My mom never got surprised with this as she knew i was really like that.

Well, at least your mom has already seen you e sport a short hair. It did surprise me, because we would sometimes quarrel when i suggest that she should at least have it cut up to shoulder length, which she would vehemently refuse. And now, this short hair! Alleluia!

Make changes sometimes will make you feel better.I also had my hair cut 2 months ago. It seems short hair will shows more energetic and fresh than long hair. But now I miss my long hair because it can change to different hair styles.

You know what, for the past days, i was contemplating in having my hair cut. It has grown long already, way past my shoulders and it seems heavy. I think, this Holy Week, i might have my haircut. At least, when we go back to the office i will have a new look. I just hope it will complement my face.

Short hair looks more stylish. It's the trend now. Plus, it's easier to maintain and she get to save a bit of money on shampoo.:P However, personally, I prefer long hair on ladies. It may look boring sometimes, especially if you just wear it down most of the time, but it's more feminine. I used to have super short hair when I was a kid. It took me so much time to fix my hair in the morning so my parents wanted me to maintain a very short hair. It was very ugly LOL, and I felt like a boy. Some boys in my school would even make fun of my hair. Now that I'm an adult, I wear my hair very long. Probably, I got a bit traumatized by the teasing LOL. Up to this day parents would sometimes nag me to cut my hair. Nowadays, it seems that news spread quicker through FB than anything else.

The hair falling on our shoulder could indeed add attractiveness. A short hair, is nice also because it's easy to maintain. But somehow, it chooses a straight type of hair, because curly hair tends to look curlier when it's short. FB gave me a surprise when i see my daughter have a short haircut, which she haven't mentioned in our conversations on the phone, the past weeks.
