Have you ever felt like you didn't know what you wanted to do with your life?

I'm at a time in my life where I'm trying to decide which direction to go in. There are so many different areas of life that a person can pursue. I think about whether or not I should find a different job right now. Should I go to college? Should l devote a lot of time for a few years to developing a blog? Just not sure where I want to go. Hard to figure this all out. It would be easier if we knew exactly the outcome of each situation we are thinking about sticking with.

Never mind Dominique25, I think everyone does self evaluations periodically in ones life; in order to come to a determination as to (a)what is the next step, and (b) whether it is worth it or not.
If as this stage in your life, you are having doubts about the previous direction already taken, and contemplating the new more 'wholesome' career approaches to be taken, I think that it is necessary for you to find a career or hobby that you love, and go for it! Put your resouces into it and go for it!
It may become possible that your hobby could become your new career path, but you ought to make a decision soon, without being frustrated.., Ooh, on second thought, I do not think that the 'search' at finding something worthwhile to do is difficult to be achieved, but it how to complete the 'search' and accomplish the desired results without the possibility of being frustrated. Perhaps, avoiding being frustrated may be the essense of the problem!
Guess what? I cannot suggest the most appropriate solution to tackle the 'acts' of frustration that may occur. However, with help, I think this process of transition may become more tolerable. My suggestion, you may need to get some professional help, as well as advice from your trusted friends and family. Good luck, ok?

Yeah it is a good thing for us to self evaluate our situation and see if our results are the way we would like them to be. If they are not then perhaps we have to readjust our goals a little bit. I know overtime the things that I have seen myself doing have changed. I hope though that now I have greatly narrowed down what I would like to do so I can get started on it. I agree with you that we need to work on not being frustrated when we are trying to get things done and accomplished. I need to try and just enjoy the trip and not try to rush from one point in my life to another.

I am delighted to know that you've been actively doing something your situation such as: (1) by narrowing down your search into what you really want to do, and;(2)planning to enjoy the 'transition process' that may ensue because of the switch in direction being contemplated.
May I hasten to say enjoy yourself ok?

I agree that is a good thing for us to do. We are able to really unleash all that we are going through and ask for help. It's so nice to be able to see the results from our prayers.

I have felt like that for the majority of the time. I have been living this life of mine in a state of limbo not knowing what the future holds for me and yes I make my plans and set goals and some I achieve whilst others are virtually impossible to achieve. I have my skills in IT but is this what I really wanted in life? I'm not so sure. I enjoy some of the work but there are times when I just wish I was concentrating my efforts on other life areas.
That would definitely be a blessing if we knew beforehand how something was going to turn out once we had taken a certain path or made a particular choice. There are so many questions in life that remain unanswered and probably will never be answered. I have come to realise now that life flows in a certain way and I suppose I have found acceptance as regards how my own life is flowing. I'm not the happiest person on Earth but I suppose there is the smallest bit of contentment there. Life goes on. Andrew

I know what your saying. I have been focusing on goals all of this time but now I think that it is necessary to focus my attention in a different area. I'm still not quit sure where to start or which direction I want to go in. I know I want to do something that I can accomplish and that I will be happy with in the end. I hope that you too are able to find something you really enjoy and to do that. It can be a very hard thing to know. I often feel that I have wasted so much time on other goals when I should have been focusing on other areas of my life. But I know that years early I wouldn't have known what I felt comfortable with as a career because now that I'm older I'm still not sure.

I have to say yes right now. My health has changed and now I need to figure out what to do. I am used to being real active and I have had to slow down. I want to pursue writing and photography to make a little extra income. Going to college is a good idea if a person can fit it in to their schedule. You could do it on a part time basis.

I'm hoping occupational therapy assistant. If I can get in the program. It's suppose to be a hard program to get into. I hope that I can get into it. If not then I will have to be flexible and try something else.

That would be a huge change to have to deal with. Something like our health being affected really would require us to change the way we do things and the way we think. As our lifestyle has now changed. I hope that you do well with pursuing a career in writing and photography. It's always nice to have some extra money. I hope to start college sometime soon. I would like to get moving on my goals and the areas I would like to pursue. I will feel better when I've started, I will know I'm closer to accomplishing my goals.

I understand completely what you are saying. I have definitely felt the same. I work so hard on line for me I don't earn that much. It has been very frustrating and discouraging all at the same time. I don't mind working hard and doing different assignments it's just when the pay is basically nothing it gets tiresome and depressing. I'm hoping that soon I will be able to do something different that earns me more and yet I basically make the same amount of money. I feel the same as you though. I work hard, am stressed out and yet I've only made a little. I really get tired of it. I hope that your situation will improve for you soon.

Yeah there are so many options out there. It's hard to know which way we should go and which direction would be the best for us. I hope that you are able to think about what you really want and come up with what direction you want to go in. It is hard to do though. I hope that I have finally narrowed down my field of options. Time will tell :).

That is how I felt after I lost my voice because I thought that I was going to be a singer or teach vocal music to people, and then when I lost my voice, I had to find a Plan B. Now, I have my degree in English Literature and I am on my way to earning my MA in English Rhetoric and Composition and Literature.

There are indeed times in our lives when we are at a crossroad and we are confused when we have to choose our way,but eventually we have to make that choice,we can't stay there too much wondering what to do next,so I think that in such moments we have to reflect very carefully upon our next move, ask for advice from those we trust and if we still aren't decided just follow our instinct when choosing our path;after all, there are no guarantees in life and the path we walk on might lead us to failure, but in that case we might still have the possibility to return to the crossroads and choose another direction,so even if we step on the wrong way,it isn't impossible to find the right track in the end.

Yeah we would waste a lot of time wondering what we should do. We need to figure out the things that are most important to us and focus on ways that we can reach our goals. I know that in the next few years I will have a lot of things to balanced. I'm hoping that with organization and being prioritized I will be able to accomplish all that I set out to do. There is a lot of time wasted on mundane things that can be better used on worthwhile things for example-watching a lot of tv, or just browsing the internet with no particular goal. If we limit our time watching television we would be amazed at how much extra time we have on our hands. Yeah I agree there are no guarantees.

I'm at this point right now. This is what we call as "Quarter-Life Crisis". It's when you're not sure where the road will lead you. Our mind is bombarded with a lot of question. What we can do right now is too enjoy where we are. Think of Today instead of Tomorrow.

It is very difficult to do that. I've tried to have a simple outlook on things and to focus on what's most important in my life. But lately I have been really frustrated. A lot of it is because most of the time I can hardly do anything because I don't have the money for it. Like going over a friends who lives out of town. And with the gas prices the way they are it makes things a ton times worse. I hope that I will be able to figure out which direction I want to go in and work hard at that. Lately I'm always thinking about the tomorrow and the future. And all that I need to do to earn a little more.

each sometimes falls into a similar situation in which we do not know what to do with their lives.
you just have to make sense of life to know what we want to achieve goals in life.
can change something to go about something else to try something else and you will see that you are better.
I wish you success.
nice day!

Thanks I appreciate your help. It just all gets so frustrated. Because I know I want to earn more than what I'm making now. A lot more in fact. I agree with you that I have to change some things in order for me to know exactly what I would like to do. I just hope that I make the right choice. As each career option or area to pursue will require a lot of time and commitment. So I've got to be able to understand what I'm heading towards.

I have been in that situation last few months but now I have found the direction I want to go and try. Deciding which whay to go in life is really hard because of the consequences it entails. You may succeed or fail anytime and that is scary. It is a risk that everyone should take in order to further ones direction in life. Once you decide , you not still sure if it is the right thing to do but you sill always hope that it is and that you will succed in your endeavor. I am in a stage were I am doing what I think will be best for me, for my family, for the future. It will be a big challenge and I am scared but I got to do it. Because now, I have a very strong reason for that decision. And I think that is what you need. Set our priorities first so that you will not be confuse. Once you set your priorities, it will give you the direction you need. Happy mylotting!

I'm glad that you have found the direction you want to go in. That is the big thing. Figuring out what exactly we want to do. I hope that I as well have figured out what I want to do. When I start going back to college I will know for sure if that is the direction I want to go in with the college course I will be taking. I will have to work hard and college but I'm sure it will pay off in the end. Yes we do have to take risks at times. I agree we have to set priorities. We have to know what we want the most.

That's true. It would be nice if we could see the outcome of each option we consider.
Give yourself some time alone to think. How well do you know yourself? Is blogging something you would enjoy or would you have to force yourself to do it.
I say...
flow with whatever happens most naturally. If you want something but can't have it without more education then going to school might be a great choice for you.
Think long term. What will bring you the most happiness?

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. I will definitely try to do that. I think with blogging it would be something that would take a lot of time to see results. I don't think that I would be able to get it up and going in the time frame I would like. And I know I would need to blog about something that would interest others as well.
