forgetting old ones. I'm still going to keep doing recycled crafts for my family and still making weavings for friends who have driven me to chemo and done other things for me during this tough time. But ribbon embroidery seems really neat. It seems to take way less time than regular embroidery and comes out beautiful. I'm using Bucilla kits. The cloth is moire and the ribbon is silk. If you have done ribbon embroidery, can you give me any tips or advice? I really want the result to be very nice. My friend wants me to make something nice for her store. With any luck it will turn out to look nice and people will want to buy it. If you have not done ribbon embroidery, have you done either of my other crafts and can you add to my knowledge there? Have you ever taken on new crafts without forgetting about the old? What old and new crafts have you done or do you do?

That all sounds like fun. I have two weavings started and will try another recycled craft soon. Thanks and take care.

I have a bad habit of not finishing things I start. I am strongly into repurposing things. I would like to make quilts, but at this point, I crochet, and that is about it. I have a nifty knitter and I do a little with that. My husband brought me a treasure today, I will try to learn to use it. I get "sent" things often, in my front yard. Usually they are meant for me, but sometimes they are meant to be returned. Today is a thing that is meant for me as I have no idea how to begin to return it, it is called a KTel knitter. Looks easy to learn, I found instructions online. It will actually make something that is more like crochet than knit. I have seen ribbon embroidery, but that is not something I am wanting to try. I started a discussion about the person who presented at the Quilt Guild meeting I went to. It kind of woke up the creative side of me that has been asleep for awhile, and reminded me of things I used to do.

I liked the presentation I saw in a video of the silk ribbon embroidery. The ribbon is so wide, you do things in 1/10th the time normal embroidery would take. It looks beautiful, too. Yes, I talk to people, listen to talks or go to Youtube and get many different ideas and i know how it does inspire me, too. I saw the discussion, but not sure if I responded or not. I'll look again.

I WAS doing a ribbon embroidery project ONCE - and I am the one who owned a yarn craft shop at one time! I taught seven different needle arts at that time. I do many more than that! I have an amusing piece of advice for you with your ribbon embroidery kits: Don't leave them lying about with your embroidery scissors there when you have mischievous grandsons around! I left mine on the side table where I place my 'in progress' projects while I went away for a couple of weeks (my step-daughter was to 'watch' the house during my absence). Apparently, she didn't watch the boys closely enough as when I returned to my poject, my ribbon was all in VERY short pieces! Needless to say, I didn't get to finish that project! I agree that ribbon embroidery is a great craft project - now that I am 'retired' from truckin, I will probably get back into it (if I ever get some of my other hand work finished.) I, too, am a master of unfinished projects. There is NO WAY for me to undertake new crafts and FORGET the old! I 'taste' new ones and if I don't like, just don't add them to my repertoire.

I think it would be neat to own a yarn shop. I have no children, so no grandchildren. My cat is mad at me for not letting him play with the ribbons. I have to be careful not to leave them about or he'll shred them the even finer ribbons. Too bad you were not able to finish that project. BEt it would have been very cool and you probably could have provided me with words of advice besides ribbon cutting prevention. Oh wwell.
