Do you have any rides at your local mall?

A few of the malls around here have rides inside of them. Nothing fancy like some of the malls I've heard about that have roller coasters and water parks and such. The ones around here are just for little kids, but at one mall I've gone to they have a good sized merry-go-round. Even though they are more for kids, I've seen adults ride them too!
So, what about you? Are there any rides at the mall(s) you go to? Or do you not go to the mall at all?

At "Mall of America" in Minnesota (basically the only thing we have in Minnesota of the U.S. - lame), we have a whole theme park - it's pretty big. It used to be called "Camp Snoopy" but recently it changed over to "Nickolodeon Universe" - it basically has themed rides (including water rides) and has a Spongebob ride I do think. I avoid MOA (as we call it) as much as humanly possible. Incredibly touristy area, and it's always packed and never really fun (too many kids running around too for my taste ha ha ha). But there are probably 15+ rides. The mall is huge though.

My daughter got desperate a couple of winters ago. She is very anti mall, anti shopping, but it had been so cold and snowy that she packed her girls up to just go walk around and get out of the house. I really enjoy both of the zoos you have in the area. I will be visiting again in May or June when my next grandbaby is born. I know, this is a bit off the discussion, although the Merry go Round at the one zoo is gorgeous.

This is the mall that came to mind when I first started this discussion. I just couldn't remember the name of it though or it's location!
I've never been to it, I've only seen it on TV. I used to want to visit, but if it's that crowded then forget it! LOL I'm not really a mall person to begin with, but do go every now and then just to get out. I make sure to avoid any of them during the holidays though as they can be a madhouse!

Yes, we have. Especially in Mall of Asia there are a lot of rides you can choose from. You can always have a good time with your kids there.

I almost never go to the mall. The closest ones here I have seen have little trains at Christmas, and that is about it. One of them does have a play space just off the food court and arcade. It has plastic things kids can climb and walk on. Nothing too exciting, but it is a good way to let kids get some energy out while mom has a soda or something. It is also right across from a giant aquarium. This aquarium has the fish from all over the state that fishermen go after. It is supposed to represent a lake or stream in Kansas. I think it is cool, and very educational.

Oh, that is cool! I'm pretty sure there are no giant aquariums near here, although I used to go to the one in the Bay Area years ago.

The mall closest to me does not have any rides, but they have a decent playground inside. A mall a little ways from me has a couple of rides. A really slow electric merry go round, and I think a carousel. Every time I see that carousel, and it's been a while, I think about how no one has likely ever sprayed that thing down with Lysol.

There are no such thing here, as my city is just small and the malls are not that big but then we do have kiddie rides, those little pony machines that kids could ride. We insert a token and they get to ride as it move with music lol.

Nothing too exciting at my local mall, it's just one story and everything close at 5pm. But I've been to a mall in Jakarta where they have a giant slide where you can slide from 4th floor all the way down to ground floor. That's thrilling...

Wow, I couldn't imagine trying it that many times. It'd wear me out!

My sons and nephews went on the slide. Waiting on the bottom, I could hear their screams from up above inside the tubed slide all the way down. As soon as they hit the bottom, all they wanted to do was going back up to the 4th floor and tried again and again and again... I guess it was that fun...

There are many Malls in the City near by my farm! Many of them have multiplexes in them and one of the Mall is having a good section of rides basically meant for children! though there are a couple of rides meant for adults , these rides are normally used by some teen couples only! In most of the malls we have multiplexes, Departmental stores, Discos and food courts as common! Only few Malls have some thing ifferent like the ries as you have mentioned! Thanks !

Discos? Really? I've never heard of that before! LOL Food courts are common here. Multiplexes not so much. I only know of 2. One's located somewhat nearby, the other one is in the Bay Area.
I do wish they had more. Even if I don't see a movie, I love just smelling the popcorn! LOL
Happy mylotting!

Wow, u are lucky! hehe ^^ We do have rides in malls in singapore too, but they are meant for kids. No adults would be able to fit in them due to space constrain.. lol Even if adults are able to squeeze themselves in, there will be security coming to chase them out of it as it's only meant for kids It would be good to have some kind of rides for adults as well, at least to relieve our childhood memories when we are riding them.. hehe

Well this is my second attempt at responding to this. Yes, merry go round, bouncy thing, used to be an arcade but don't think it's there anymore. The bouncy thing is like a bungee thing, you bounce up.

hi sacmom!
how have you been? hope you are doing well.
back to your discussion, yes, rides are common here in the malls here in our country. merry go rounds and ferris wheels' are common while the bigger malls would have more rides available like roller coasters and what not.
in the one mall that we always go to, my daughter would always ride the merry go round and ferris wheel. she still gets a kick doing it so i still let her take these rides. anyway, you are correct the bigger malls out here in the country have more rides to offer and a lot more arcade games.
see you around mylot sacmom!
cheers!!!

I'm doing good, thanks. And you?
I have to say, I'm a bit jealous! I wish there was a Ferris wheel in one of the malls here. Unfortunately, I don't think it would fit inside any of them! LOL

hi sacmom!
i'm doing good myself. thanks for asking. although i can always do better and improve on my current status in life. lol!
the mall culture is very prevalent here in our country. everything and anything important is in the mall. there are even masses held in malls!!!
can't really blame the people as the mall is their refuge from their ho-hum lives.
i don't go to malls unless i really have to. i try my best to stay away from these malls because these are money traps. hahahahahaha!!!

We don't have any rides like that in our mall here but there is this neat bungie jumping thing that they have in the middle when you walk in the main entrance. It costs quite a bit to do it but it looks like a lot of fun. I tried to get my youngest to do it once and she wouldn't have any part of it.

NO, there are no rides in my local mall. It would be nice to have a ride to entertain the people that don't really enjoy going around the mall and shopping. Sometimes I do see the merry go round around the Christmas time but after that they remove it. I do enjoy sitting at the food courts and sitting by the money water fountain.

We do not have any malls real close to us. The one in the neighboring town has a few of the single riding kids toys, but that is all.

Where in the capital city of my place here , there is a full fledge theme park inside, with big big roller coster, pirate ship , pendulum and toodler rides too, it right smack inside the supermall. While in my own state , there just fun place for kids , like small rides only nothing big.I don ride rides in the mall , the best i play some arcage games , like classic super street fighter, bubbles and football.

Wow,that sounds great. Where I live, most malls simply have stores and restaurants at a little food court and maybe some little kiosks in the walkways. But this, this is truly grand. The only mall I've ever been to with roller coaster rides in it is Minnesota's "Mall of America", which I visited on a trip there when I was younger.

hi kolsti87.
the mall culture is very prevalent in the philippines. there are four malls located in the country that are in the list of the top twenty biggest malls in the world!!! at 18 is sm city cebu, 13th spot is sm megamall, 8th spot is sm mall of asia, and the third biggest mall in the world is sm city north edsa. i've been to all four malls. except for sm city cebu, all the other three malls are located here in the city. sm mall of asia is the newest one and the oldest is sm city north edsa although it has recently been renovated.
one would think that with all these malls, the country and its citizens are well-off but the malls serve as a background to the disparity in living conditions among the social classes here in the country. so much for the 'third world country' tag that the philippines has!!! *sigh*
