Almost everyone watchs moives and they have various taste. As a kind of art, it must have the core value, which is the vital section to a movie. So there is the question, what do you think can be regard as the soul or the spirit of a movie? Additionally, how to estimate a movie a good one or not?

Well, I think the most important thing in a movie is the characters, and then the plot. If I didn't bond with the characters, then I probably wouldn't care about the plot. You know what I mean? I love movies where the characters are so well developed that I almost feel like I AM them, and I'm walking their footsteps and doing what they're doing, to the point that I feel like I'm in the movie. The next would be the plot development, but I don't really know how to explain that, lol.

Maybe I can comprehend what you mean. Is it that you wanna an atmosphere which you can put yourself in and it seems like you are a part of it? It sounds really great and exciting.

A good movie has to make sense. Nobody like movies that they don't understand and that don't seem to have a real meaning. I've seen some of the dumbest movies that make me say, "What was that". I think the best movies are those that people really relate to and that can draw emotions out of them.

Hello,I completely approve of what you say. Actually, I like the movies implying the meaning towards the real world. They can provoke me thinking and imply me learn something.

A good movie should have a good plot with a well written and interesting story. The actors and acting should be very good. All these are somewhat subjective and, like beauty, are to some extent in the eye of the beholder. I don't go to the movies very often and I tend to like science fiction or action movies but I also like dramas and comedies. It has been several years since I saw several movies in one year. That year, Summer really, I saw four movies: Australia, Streetfighter: The Legend of Chun Li, Gran Torino and Watchmen. The best of those four was Gran Torino which starred Clint Eastwood. The second best which was still very good was Streetfighter: The Legend of Chun Li which starred Kristin Kreuk. Watchmen just was not a good movie. Australia was an absolutely terrible movie even though it had the big name stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Australia was way too long and Nicole Kidman in particular was terrible in it. Hugh Jackman was not much better. The best performances in the movie were given by two unknowns who played a young Aborigine boy and old man. It is very hard to estimate what will be a good movie. Of these four Australia was widely promoted and distributed as was Watchmen and they were the worst of the four with Australia even getting bad reviews. Gran Torino while not so widely promoted was widely distributed. Unfortunately, Streetfighter was not well promoted and was not widely distributed; only one theater in my city which has many multi-screen theaters showed it and that was not for very long. I was lucky that I didn't wait long in going to see it.

I agree with what you say.In my opinion the script should come first. With no outstanding script ,no significant theme and no appealing plot, even though the best actor acts in the movie ,it will surely boring to spectators.

I think, a good story together with good casting, good effects (sound and other effects) will make a movie really good. There are movies out there that seems the story is boring however, special effects were great so they are considered to be great too. Casts also made a big impact on the movie.

Hi, thanks for answering the question firstly.I don't deny the special effects' unique function to a good movie. Neverthless if a movie haven't a good purport, where do the special effects' meaning lie?

I think the most important would be the plot since that is what keeps people interested.. The actors playing is also an important factor since some people watch a movie because of an actor.

The most important part of any film is the plot. Without a good story , a film isn't Any good. It is the one thing that look for and it is what makes me Want to see a film!

Character development and plot are two of the major things I look for in a movie. I think those are pretty important.

I think the plot is really the basis of a good movie and if it really achieves what it wants to make the people feel- god dialogue is a factor too..and the music.. There are a lot of little things that make a movie great. Welcome to mylot.

A good movie needs good writing. Good actors can make bad writing great, but they can't make bad writing good. It's at the core of everything. Production value is more of an added bonus. All these old movies in black and white are really good despite their terrible production. Now of course, no one wants to watch an action movie where you can see wires holding up the characters in mid-air, so the effects should be good enough so that they do not distract from what's important: the writing! Dialogue, plot, characters, it's the basis of all of it.

A good movie, in my opinion, has a good plot. we don't need it to be very creative or "unexpected", the plot should, at least, not be cliched. The fairytale kind of story should be used as the script for a good movie. Besides, different actors interpret a movie from different angles and in different ways and hence I think good actors are essential for a good movie. Hopefully, the story in the movie can resonate with the life of the actor and thus the actors can somehow exhibit some real feelings but not just trying to perform.
