Certain people are well accustomed to eating comfort food as a means of coping up to daily life frustrations/problems. Does it really provide satisfaction? Or just a mere distraction? There are certain types of food that really do uplift a person's mood because of it's components that causes a release of hormones.

Hi sk I think that comfort food very definitely provides satisfaction. I cook for a living and cooking this type of foods is just as satisfying as eating it. With all we know today about eating healthy and most of us do try, that insatiable desire to eat what we know we shouldn't is always there. During crisis, heartbreak, failure, etc our "quick fix" seems to always be eating comfort food. For me, its greasy, oh so good, pizza, potatoes with tons of butter and sour cream, biscuits drowning in gravy and any and all desserts double dalloped with whipped cream make me forget my woes, even if just for a while. There was a time, in fact about 20 years where I could eat whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted and maintain 110 lbs. Unfortunately, as time goes on, this is not the case anymore and a couple meals of complete gratification does not out weigh the 4 weeks of complete starvation laced with hours of the dreaded exercise to take it off. With that said, the answer to your question, does it provide long term satisfaction? not so much, does it add to your burden? All day long!

Thank you Sulsisels for your comment. The things that you've mentioned above also has reflected my personal experience. I am obese since birth and I can't seem to loose this excess weight. It is really hard staying out of old habits.

Not really, maybe for a little while it gives the person a god feeling but it is not good to eat and eat if one is not feeling okay. WHy not just drink water or sleep- there are other stuff t d to uplift someone's feelings..
