Tonight is called an earth hour in my beloved country. For me, it is a weekend break so I will be going to the Mall. But the mall will be joining the earth hour. An hour of no lights inside the mall? If I will be going to the mall, I will be forced to join the Earth Hour. I never have tried joining such hour in my entire life and I wonder what will be done if I will join. How about in your place, are you all there going to join the Earth Hour?

I am late on this one. Generally, there is nothing that you should be concern about. You just move one with your life. Sleep, eat, and anything else you could do - life goes on.
Just check the wikipedia page on this one. The idea is to raise awareness of saving energy and power. For residential (those that live in houses, apartments, living places), they can always turn off lights in areas unused.

It was nice to see last night that the whole world was united doing something together! I saw they had the lights off in Sydney, which is half way round the world, but also in other parts! Suddenly I felt united to all those people out there, as we are all sharing the same beautiful world in this great Earth of ours!

I always join the earth hour every day. Every day during the night time, I always put all my electrical appliances, except one, on "off" mode. If they are celebrating earth hour tonight, that would be wonderful. There's no problem with me being part of it. it would be great for our earth to breath for a little time without all those disturbances. Oh earth, thou has been in degradation since man has had dominion over thee. When thou restest in thy peace? Earth hour... i like that.

Yes i will be joined by one hour without eletectricity. I would go to the frenetic city center and sparkling with light. I want to fell what it feels like a world without light, only starlight and moon are shining on this earth.

I think ti is good to join earth hour and save electricity. I think if everyone join earth hour most probably there will be lots of electricity saved all over the world. I think it is good to live green and to use energy from the nature and to save energy.

Hi keshlois1432, which country are you from? I am from Singapore and when I was shopping today, one lady stopped me and shared with me about Earth Hour. I did not stop to entertain her but I somehow feels that there is gonna be Earth Hour in Singapore soon. As for me joining Earth Hour, I'll says that it depend on the situation for me at the moment of Earth Hour.

It's just one hour, so maybe you can go a bit earlier or later to the mall if they join the Earth Hour. You can't be forced to join if you don't want to. This hour is rather symbolical to show how much energy could be saved if we turned the light off more. I haven't heard about places in my country that join the Earth Hour, honestly I don't really know what happens in an event like that, except for having no light for an hour. It's easy to join at home, though.

To be truthful I wasn't aware that Earth Hour was today. I have taken part in the past by making sure that all unnecessary items were turned off, but I make a habit of this every day anyway because of the cost of my electric bills.

Oh, yeah! nice comment..the government must have had joined in this action. And to be apparent that they are also concern to the earth saving, they must have turned off the electricity so atleast even the unaware citizen could participate.

I've always wanted to join Earth Hour, it's just that our local electricity company takes it upon themselves to turn the lights out for us. It makes me angry because it has to be voluntary and not forced. The good feeling we get from participating out of goodwill is totally not there. Do you know what I mean?
Anyway, our place are having problems with electricity (I recently just found out-and it's been going on for years!) so I guess that's why they always take the opportunity to turn the lights off. lol! Even on normal days, every day of the week there's a few hours of blackout/brownout.
So, after all these time of experiencing no electricity, I'm not all that excited to spend more time without it.

People in my country are going to join the event but I don't know if I am.
I'm currently visiting my aunt and I don't know if she agrees with this so I'll wait and see.
I can't really say anything because it's her house, her decision.
I don't even know if she heard about the event, although now that I think about it she does listen to a lot of radio.
The mall idea sounds interesting, maybe I'll go there and join the event if the owner is ok with this.
Enjoy Earth Hour :).
