My son got them a few months back. He was in pain and really felt uncomfortable for first 3 days or so. He had to take some Tylenol (or Panadol here...) to ease the pain. He also brushes with sensitive pro relief Colgate toothpaste as advised by his orthodontics. Soon enough, he's used to them and does not even feel any pain after each monthly check up and adjustments.

well, that's good to hear. so you say that they will make adjustments? i can tell them about the heavy effect it is having on my mouth and they will do something about it? that would be great! thanks so much for the advice in advance.

After it was first fitted in, he has to come back monthly to have them checked and adjusted. Did they tell you the same? Chances are by the time you are back for your first check up, the uncomfortable feeling are gone. It's only in the first few days because the teeth are loosening up and realigning themselves according to the braces. So if you're still feel uncomfortable or even worse after few days, just let your orthodontist know.

I have them for almost a year now. That's okay. You'll get used to it. Just remind yourself about the outcome of that. You'll be better! ;D

How much longer do you have to wear them? You're right, I'm happy that my son also seems to get used to it fairly quickly. It's been six months now, and he has to see his orthodontist every 4 weeks for regular check up and adjustments.

Dear MoonGypsy. I had my braces on twice because the first one didnt seem effective on me... Even so, the second one aint working either... i have problem with the maintenance haay... what a waste of my parents' hard working money. Dont worry. It will rub off on you.. It would really feel uncomfortable at first. just keep on using the gum paste... give it a week and youll be ok.

I've never had braces but my brother as well as a friend of mine have had braces in the past. Initially, they also felt very uncomfortable with the braces but soon they got used to them. The results with the braces were well worth the feeling of uncomfort and a little pain in the end for them. So. just continue and you'll get used to them soon.

That feeling will pas and you will get used to them. I don't really know what's the problem in your case, but probably you will go back for adjustments. You may feel something when that time comes but you get used to that also. Give it a little time, things will get better and you will have a nice smile :D

that's what i look forward to. i actually think they look good on me. i have the purple ones. when i go to my appointment and they change them, i will get blue or black. i will also tell them about the heavy feeling that makes me feel so aware of my mouth that i feel like i want them off. it's okay, though. the price of beauty is sometimes a bit uncomfortable at first.
