Friends... Are you familiar with that kind of contraption? It is 5-meter and 50cm wide cloth that is made of cotton-spandex material that is wrapped around mommy's tummy and back to carry baby on front. Is it practical to have something like this? Has anyone of you ever tried wearing something like it? Was it comfortable for both mommy and baby???

I have seen it and tried somthing a bit similar, personally I didn't find it comfortable and I felt has my baby was comfortable. I don't maybe he was comfortable but seeing him dangling there made me a bit unease. I never used it with my daughter, I actually ended up giving it away to friends of ours and they thought the same thing. My fear was that I was going to drop him, I know it's probably all in my head. The other thing I didn't like was that it puts a strain in your back, my son was a big boy not fat, just big/tall, so he definitely put strain on my back that to me was another minus.

ive seen old people at japan carrying their grand children in this manner. but i havent seen japanese parents do this. maybe more of them rely on strollers or baby cars. i guess baby wraps depends if you are used on using one. the baby can slip if you dont tie it properly and the baby can get hurt if you tie it too tight. you can use this as the child at your back or at the front. with my son we did not use something like this.

Whilst it does sound more practical than carrying the baby or having to maneuvre a push-chair, it doesn't sound like the most secure method. What is holding it together? What if it comes unwrapped?
There are similar products on the market, carriers that hold the child either in front or behind the parent and are held on with straps.
