Who else saw The Hunger Games in theaters? What did you think about it? If you read the books, do you think that the movie did it justice or was it a fail? I personally loved the movie, however, I never read the books. The story line was great but there were some things I didn't like or thought could be improved. I didn't like some of the camera work that they used. Some of the fight scenes gave me a headache. I was also confused about the relationship with the main girl and the boy that you see at the beginning of the movie(sorry I don't remember the names/can't spell them). Then all of a sudden she's actually starting to like the guy she went into the games with. I probably need to read the books to understand that part. Any other thoughts?

Hi, I watched The Hunger Games on theater. :) The same as you, I never read the book, either. I just watched the movie. I also confused about the part you said. But when I watched the movie, I thought it is because she got no friends left and he is the only one she can trust moreover, he is from the same district.

I actually already started a discussion like this one, but I am glad that more people are finally talking about this movie and the books. I did not feel that the film really followed the book very well, but I did like the behind the scene part of the games which isn't what we get in the books. We didn't know how Haymitch got the sponsors and we didn't know what Claudius Templesmith was saying during the games or what the game makers where thinking, and I was glad that Collin's brought that up, but there was so much more that this film could have included and could have done, and they didn't. The protagonist are Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. They are from District 12 which is the Coal District in this Dystopian world of Panem. Also, the books really are much better than the film. In the books, you really get to see everything from Katniss's point of view.

I have never read the books, but I've heard a ton about them. I guess the guy she starts out with, Gale, is her childhood friend who she grew up hunting with? I haven't seen the movie either, but I think I like Gale better than Peeta. Sure, Peeta is her partner at the games, but in real life he's 5'6. Katniss needs a tall guy! Okay, so I'm 5'11 and have a problem finding tall guys too. lol So the movie was good, huh? I heard they had to make some parts smaller in this movie than they were in the books. Like Lenny Kravitz's characer, Cinna? Apparently, he was a little bigger role in the books. I'd like to see the movie, but I think I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Do you think the fight scenes would be better received on a smaller screen, whereas on the big screen it's in your face and can hurt your eyes?

The movie was okay but not that great. I have read books and watched several movies with the same theme and they are better in my opinion. But I will read the book so I can compare if it was really the same.

I'd say you should read the book if you want to understand the story even more. The movie was quite fast paced and some details were omitted probably due to the limited airtime. Although the movie stayed pretty close to the book, the book still gives more details which would make you appreciate and understand the story even more.
