For that few friends give me good tips. One of them is, I need to sleep early in the night so that I can wake up early in morning more easily. Well yesterday was the special day for me so didn't sleep early. But since a week I am trying to sleep early in the night but I can't. Its just like I am just on the bed but not sleeping(don't feel like sleeping).. May be because I used to of sleeping late in the night. But what to do now? Is there any tip to sleep early in the night so that I can wake up in morning soon.

Try keeping your body busy and active during daytime and drink milk or hot chocolate in the evening before bedtime.

in homeopathic medicine, warm milk with ginger helps to calm the mind. Making a habit of drinking them is really effective. Its not instant though..its gradual :)

When I tell myself that I have something really important to do in the morning, I tend to automatically wake up really early even if I slept late. Just before I go to sleep, I'd convince myself that I need to wake up at certain time, and I usually do even without using an alarm clock. I guess if you want to wake up early badly enough, you can sort of tell yourself to help you...

It also works for me , telling to myself to wake up early , but , with the alarm clock , I can sleep better , knowing I will sure wake up even if fallen asleep. Without an alarm clock , somehow , my brain watch the time and it is a sleep that is less better. I might even wake up a lot before that time. You can also drink some water before sleeping and it will make you need to wake up after some hours , you will have the pressure to let go of the spare water (urine).

Hello Anand, Our brain is fixing a time table for sleeping according to our regular sleeping pattern. Now you are used with this sleeping pattern and I think it may take some time to change it. You can still go on bed early and wake up early, even if you can’t sleep immediately. If you follow this pattern regularly you can make a new sleeping pattern according to your convenience. Have a glass of warm milk before going to bed.

Hi Sree Unfortunately yes, I got this habit from one of my cousin.. And that's why when I go to bed early I not feel sleepy atall.. Yes it will take time to be regular again.. I have tried the milk, but that is not working for me. I don't want to go for sleeping tablets as I have read that they are not healthy and reduce the life span.

Yes.. Even I won't go for pills anytime... I have heard many bad things about it, so never try that. I will only follow natural and healthy ways for the same. I tried with milk one day, and I didn't get success on that day so I not repeated it on next day.. Do you think I should continue taking milk for more day.

People believe here that "there is nothing better than an herb tea to sleep". A camomile tea or a lime-flower tea certainly helps, but I don't know anything better than a really boring book : they make me sleep like a baby after a few pages.

hello akp first tell me if you need an honest and genuine reply or a funny one? anyways i have both for you. even i was in habit to sleep late and get up late but this used to disturb my daily routine. what you can do is set up a fixed time to get up in the morning. say 7'o clock. put an alarm and force yourself to get up no matter what time you slept. it will take sometime till your body will get adjusted to this routine and then you would be able to sleep early in order to have a complete sleep. other thing that you may try for sleeping early is reading a boring book. typically in hindi or your local language. it will surely make you doze off soon

Hi Khare.. You can have fun too, but it is my real problem for now.. I have already tried what you said, I am forcing my self by putting 3 alarm of different timing, but still I can hardly hear one and other two off automatically after shouting for many minutes.. Don't know why I am feeling that sleepy in the morning.. I know that if I will start getting up early in the morning then I will start sleeping early in night automatically.. But honestly I am not getting up early in the morning daily.. I mean suppose today I wake up early then next one or two days again I can't wake up.. I mean I am not consistent.. About reading books, I don't read much.. So it will be hard. Common you are a doc, you can give me some more good tips.

hey, i just made a similar post on this lol.. funny i read your just now.. we are having the same problem seems.. i have gotten use to staying up late and sleeping late as well.. and i want to start getting up early..now. .. so i know i need to go to bed early but i have trouble sleeping when i go to bed early.. so i talked to my friend and she said go to bed as soon as my husband gets home from work. which is usualy 12.00.. so i will go to bed at 12 30 giving me a few minutes to talk to him before bed.. and like tonight i cant becasue he will be home at 2 sonce he is working over time..so tonight i will be going to bed at 230 i hope.. as im getting up early tomorrow as well... so maybe for you and you case see what time you are going to bed and try to set a time like im doing.. and make yourself go and even if your not sleepy.. because alot of time it take me awhile to wind down when i go to bed.. anyhow.. so forcing myself to go at a certain time will soon train your body and soon you will start getting sleepy at that time.. but if that dont work then try listening to the radio with a soft music in bed.. or watch tv until you get sleepy only watch it in your bed room if possible i have a tv in my bedroom as well... good luck.. to you.. i feel your pain.. as were in the same boat.. only i was never a early bird.. always been a night owl...

what i do if my sleeping schedule becomes different is i try to wake up early in the morning sometimes even if i only slept for 2-3 hours. then i make sure that i do a lot of chores in and out of the house to get me tired. don't sleep in the afternoon longer than an hour or two of siesta. or else you'll have a hard time sleeping at night. start your day right by exercising. try to drink a glass of milk before sleeping and eat your dinner 3-4 hours before you go to bed so that you won't feel bloated before going to sleep.

Basically I would say to reset your sleep clock. Let me explain. If you cannot fall asleep early enough to wake up early enough, then what you need to do on the weekend is to stay up all night and all day. Then you will be tired enough to fall asleep early the next night. In which case you will wake up early the following morning.

Hi Wow.. That's the most unique idea you have explained there. Never heard about someone tried that for adjusting sleeping clock.. Okay then. If no tips will work for me then I will buy some interesting movies CDs for this weekend and will try to wake up in the whole night. But hope it will not make me sleep in afternoon on the next day.

I like the morning environment. Sun is brighty, air is fresh, people is happy, and everything. I'm a Highscchool student, and sleep very very little on class period. But when weekends come, I sleep all I owe myself. Then, in holidays, I sleep and sleep 'til I can't get more! And of course, I cannot enjoy of my fresh mornings. And they are ae not so special in school, the thing about mornings is to enjoy them at home.

Surely morning time is best. We can feel much better in that environment and also morning's fresh air is quite healthy for us. That's why I wanting to wake up early too.. But unfortunately because of my current habit of late sleeping in the night stopping me to get up early in the morning.. I hope I will able to change my habit and will able get up early in the morning like before.

i suffer with S A D, seasonal affective disorder and when the seasons change i tend to sleep during the day and wake late in the evening, i am not good when this happens, it's a form of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome also known as ME, which changes the body clock to sleeping during the day and waking up when it's dark, the problem with the seasons here when the clocks change it's darker earlier and dark in the morning, i crave daylight and cannot function if there is not enough daylight, so my sleeping pattern went to pot, since the change of the season i wake at around 7/8am, i get a full day of daylight and then i go to bed early which enables me to sleep all night, this is why i hate winter because i know exactly what will happen, i do not want to take sleeping meds so i have to use a daylight lamp to keep me awake, i think the eralier you go to bed the earlier you wake, so maybe that's the right method

Before you go to bed try to do exercise or do these some yoga posture; simple back bend, forward bend, shoulder stand and corpse pose.Eat food which is more on iron and b-complex. And set aside all you thoughts. Dont eat too much at night, dont eat late at night. These factors add heaviness during the day

I know about that.. Eating more at night surely can affect our sleep. But do you think exercising after dinner is good.. I mean people always says that exercising after food is not good.. We can take light walk..

Yes its true. Exercise after eating is not good. In yoga asana, when your abdomen is inverted poses should be avoided. try to listen to your body, when you do some certain poses its so uncomfortable and when you feel this, this means that its not good for internal organs also. Usually, after meal 2 to 3 hours, by that time the food you ate were settling down. I think there's something imbalance in you body. Yoga exercise, helps to balance them. It also helps to listens stress and anxieties. When there's some disagreement from within, hormonal imbalance manifest. And sleeping disorder is one of the symptoms of having hormonal imbalance. Try to add Cruciferous vegetables in your diet.

You should do cardio exercises in the morning and always keep yourself busy during the day so that you would feel tired during night time and be able to sleep early. This is what I do and it actually works for me because from the time I get home after taking a shower I don't have a hard time getting some sleep. :)

The only way that you can adjust your body clock so that you can sleep in the evenings and wake up early in the morning is to set a time where even if you are still sleepy, you have to get up. This will make you go to bed early in the evening and thus make you wake up in the morning. My body clock is so messed up having worked in the call center industry for eight years. But when I took a year off work, I found that I could still adjust my body clock so that I go to sleep the same time as my mom did and wake up before she does in the morning. One more tip that I can give you is to condition your mind that you will get up early in the morning. Sometimes when I had to change work shifts, like from graveyard shift to morning shift, I just tell myself before I sleep that I need to wake up at a certain time in the morning. I don't know if it works just for me, but I can adjust to the abrupt change and don't feel lethargic at all.

If I go to bed at 2 am, I am going to wake up around 9 or 10. If I were you, an hour at a time, I would go to bed early. So this is to say, if you were to regularly go to bed at 3 am, go to bed one hour earlier, be sure to do things that will make you want to sleep that much earlier. The result should be you awakening an hour or even two hours earlier the next morning. Keep doing this until you get the result you want, and your body gets used to it.

Just like the clock in each individual sleep is regulated differently, I would not know what to suggest I could give you tips to sleep better. However you must know that I recently changed my cycle in the rest. Once I even fell asleep at 3.00 AM, only to wake up to 12.00 PM. Then at night, tiredness came over me already at about 10.00 PM, then for a time or two, I decided to go to sleep. To my surprise, the morning I woke up at about 8.00 AM. I'm adopting this strategy, till today, and frankly speaking I prefer it. I prefer to make better use of the morning, so I can do more things.

I think it is just natural that you don't feel sleepy as your body has not yet got used to sleeping in the hours that you are trying to do now. Just keep trying. Just lay on the bed, close your eyes. relax your mind. Sleep. I am sure you will feel better after a few days. Exercise in the evening will always help - follow by a comfortable bath, read something, maybe a cup of milk or chocolate, after awhile, you should feel sleepy.

I understand that it takes time to get accustomed again with the previous habit we had in sleeping and waking up. As you said, you used to wake up early because you were sleeping early too. Now, even if you like to sleep early, you can't sleep. That is the issue here. So, if I may suggest, take some workout before you go to bed. Probably, when your body is tired because of the work out, you will have an easier time. Or you might want to drink some warm water. or it may be that you need to calm your mind and not think of stressful issues in your family, in your work, or in any thing. I know that you will succeed in some few days of making adjustments. It's not a big issue I guess. Have a great and wonderful sleep.
