A few month ago...or even a few weeks ago I would say we can live without internet and can go back to basic if need be [ and no doubt we can] but oh boy that will take some doing! I was without internet for over 12 days and I tell you what! I was quite lost without it! I never realized I relied on the internet for so many things...like banking...street directory and so on...you see I no longer have street directory books...I was lucky I knew my new suburb quite well and my new neightbours were very helpful...to me this experience was quite an eye opener indeed! I just ask my self if the system goes down[lets say there is not computer system] [ what so ever] what would happen?...just imagine the panic that would create it would be devastating and not just in your home town but world wide! so from now on I have decided to keep some of my old books around just in case. What do you think?

There maybe panic but I see a lot people doing without cable and in the USA since they change from analog to digital we are doing without TV all together. I have my DVD's when I need to watch something. It making me go outside and enjoy nature and make me fix my house get things fixed and painted since I have no TV. I also have no internet at home either right now. I do this at my breaks at work and I work two jobs and as long as I get my work done at night work they do not care.
So I think it may inconvenience when bill time or want your money etc... deposits from your company etc but if there is a will then there is a way. There is always a work around... money orders etc...
Thanks unique16

Oh I'm sure many people would say that they could live without the Internet. However when they actually have to either put up or shut up, when for some reason they don't have the Internet for a day or two because of a service outage, or even more, than it is a lot harder than it looks. Many of us did live without the Internet in the past, but that was before we used the Internet.
I have no delusions that I would live without the Internet. It would inconvenience a lot of my life. If the Internet somehow went down worldwide, there would be mass panic and potentially rioting. About ten years ago, it might not have been that much of a problem, but the world is connected with the Internet, for better or for worse that is just the nature of life. The Internet is a necessity.
