Indian's sign of agreement

I have several Indian co-workers and I have noticed that they always move their heads from left to right if they are ask with a yes or no question.I understand this body language as a form of agreement;but why they are doing that instead of the common head nodding?I'm just wondering, is it really a sign of agreement?
