“Pink slime” the beef by-products of cow intestines, body fat, connective tissues and other parts that are not used in beef cuts. The beef scraps are simmered at low heat and spun in a centrifuge to remove the fat. It is then sprayed with ammonia gas to kill pathogens such as E. coli, and finally is frozen and distributed to be added to ground beef.
McDonald’s and Burger King announced they would no longer use the processed beef this year, and several grocery store chains have agreed to stop selling beef with pink lime additive. I always wondered why these fast food burger joints could sell their burgers for a buck. Oh and by the way I seen a banner today at McDonald’s that read “Big Macs 2 for $2.22” seems as though Mickey D’s is getting rid of their pink lime. ...

lol! I guess they are trying to move the burgers on out for sure! lol! I do not eat red meat. However, if I know that it is farm raised or organic I might have it occasionally. Actually I have only eaten fish for over a month now and I feel a lot better. I also make sure the fish I purchase are wild caught and not farmed. That's disgusting too.. ever seen a fish farm? All those hundreds of fish in a container barely large enough to hold them... disgusting. Seeing all the information on pink slime only convinced me that I was right to begin with! lol

Well, no food is safe, we just take a chance with whatever we choose to eat. Fish is prong to mercury and that not good. Organic doesn't always means that the food is really organic there are different meanings of what is organic in the food industry.

I was grossed out when I first heard about this....totally. I don't eat at either one of those places but buy meat in a store where they add it to their meat....first they said they were quitting it and now they said they will give people a choice...and I know what I am chosing and it has no pink slime in it!

There is no way that fast food chains are going to stop putting fillers in their burgers. They won't be able to sell it for as cheap as they do and if the prices go up too high they will lose customers. Taco Bell was sued a few years ago for having more filler than beef in their meat. The lost the case and only had to increase the beef in their product by about 1% i believe (don't quote me on that!). Anyway, if you want a burger low in pink slime from a fast food restaurant just get an angus burger.
