Best Years of Music

This topic came into mind after watching a 2001 top fifty flashback on YouTube. The creator of the video stated that 2001 was the best year for music according to many experts. As I was watching the video, remembering how little I was when most of these songs where out, I compared them to our recent top fifty songs now in 2012. I think we have many great bands and solo artists out now, but in general, us as a society have changed our tastes on music. We know have female artists like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Jessie J, and Beyonce, along with ours, producing songs that sound the same with the same messages and meaning being protrayed in them. I think now our best music is coming from the alternative and rap genres. Our alternative singers of our time have beautiful voices, and our making quality songs with clear messages. Fun., Coldplay, Gotye, Florence and the Machine, Snow Patrol, The Yeah Yeah Yeahd, We the Kings, and many other alternative bands and solo artist are pulling the only good shall say " radio clean" songs. Rap is also really strong now in 2012. I think rappers that have been around for awhile( Emienem, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Kayne West) are still pulling strong, while slightly new rappers( Drake, Nicki Minaj, Mac Miller, Tyga, etc) are giving us a different taste on how rap music is changing from year to year. I think with the exception of Adele, pop music is going downhill. We heat the same beats, tones, and messages everyday, with no change what so ever. Dance music is also becoming popular as well( Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Afrojack) I just hope it does not get overused, like what has happened to pop music. So what's your outlook on best year for music.? I think it was the years where bands and solo artist such as : Matchbox 20, Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Faith Hill, Linkin Park, Snow Patrol, Train, The Fray, Destiny's Child, Emienem, Green Day and such ran the charts. Not this garbage that's suppose to be "so good".

I like a lot of the 1970's and 80's music as that was when I was growing up. I also like the 1960's music as well. Today the music is pretty good and I enjoy watching the music channel when they do the charts.
