Hello
I have started making a faux leather handbag with zips at front.
It is my first one I have done and found it hard to put the zips in due to the material. I couldn't put pins or tack zips on due to putting holes in the faux leather and it is quite heavy material as well so I don't even know if they would go in properly.
Has anyone got any expereince in working with heavy faux leather?
What do you do to help you stitch zips without them moving when stitching on the sewing machine? Any ideas?
Thanks.

All I know is I've seen the machines they use to stitch leather together. No pins, no glue, nothing. They stitch correctly because they do it over and over again. It takes expertise to run those machines. Gutless me wouldn't even attempt to try! But that's just me.

I am no expert and nor do I have any experience
I really don't know how a professional would do it but I would be inclined to glue the zip in place with a suitable craft glue before machining. It's likely that the glue wouldn't hold the zip effectively in use but it would certainly hold it enough so that you could machine sew it.
