I just read abot how many health benefit laughter can give us..
It boosts the immune system..
Gives great excercise, a good laugh is like a real workout..
Makes our body produce biochemicals that are good for our brain and enhances our mood.
I once read about a person who was very sick and looked at a lot of fun movies and got healthy by laughing.
Just smiling makes us feel good and starts some reactions in our body that may help it to heal. Why not try right away..??
Maybe you have heard of laughing therapy and I have read about laughing breaks in some working places..
Have you lauged today??

I have read a lot about laughing and smiling and the wonderful affects they can have on us. I fully agree with this too. I try to smile and laugh as much as I can. I have also been known to do some silly thing just to get people to laugh.

YES! It is always refreshing to laugh it will recharge you faster. I sometimes laugh at my promblems because it can lessen the pressure and can help clear your mind to be able to think clearly. To come up with better decision making you should not worry too much. Also if you are sick , do not think that you will not recover, laugh it out . I do believe it is mind over matter.

It´s amazing how much better we feel when we laugh, and you are right - we think clearer - it enhances our brain function!

I laugh all the time. I can think funny even if the situation is not all that funny. I find something to laugh about each day because I know it's healthy. Would rather have laugh lines than frown lines. Went to visit our grandkids this morning. The older one is a little over 3. She was glad to see me but then wanted me to leave so she was a bit nasty with me this morning. She's been sick so am sure that was the attitude issue today. I kept looking at her mom and I was laughing because it was rather amusing. I thought it was funnier than her mom did. It was one of those times when you have to be there to appreciate the humor, especially in little ones. And the day is only half over so will see what happens later in the day. I have heard of laughing therapy and it's suppose to be real healthy.

I agree with you, laughter does a lot of good to us, under normal circumstances. I was at the airport last month waiting to board, and reading a book of humor to pass time. The book was good, no doubt about it, and I was laughing my head off! The passengers beside me, were looking at me strangely, and one of them even had the security to look me up! That is the cynical world one has to face these days. You cannot be happy without offending/scaring someone!
I believe that along with all the good a good laugh does, as you have mentioned, it works on the brain to fool it into happiness. This is, as I believe, called auto-suggestion. The more time you spend on laughter, more happier you are for a longer period of time. The same works with being sad too.
Given a choice, I would be happy, and have a "good life", just like you buenavida!

I am not sure I would dare to read a humor book among strangers who are very serious..
I might look around and try to smile at the others and if someone smiles back, I could just try to talk to that person.
Maybe I could, after talking a while, tell them a joke or something, so that the others could hear it and make more people smile or even laugh.
Maybe, just maybe, it would lighten up the serious ones too..
Worth a try..
I have lived in a city where people rarely talk to each other and it was a relief to move to a small place where we say "hi" even to strangers..

It looks like you have come across with a lot of negative people..
But there are still positive ones - we have to search that kind of company.
At least I have found many who appreciate humor and laughter.. Keep searching and you may find more of them than you expected..

That is interesting, many of us should be in a laughing therapy.. That really releases tensions - but maybe it helps to find company we can laugh with..

I laugh everyday. After I laugh I feel less stressed and it apparently contracts your stomach muscles. (Abs oh yeahhh)
Omg after watching Gabriel.. Hernandez? I don't remember but he says, "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy." I felt the hardest burn ever, it was so funny.
Well, not surprising, the more happier you are the more your body fights I assume.
Heck, if you're not up to laughing like the joker, smiling is good for you too. (Facial expressions effect mood apparently.)
It's all natural and easy, so I do it and I'm relatively happier than most people.

I've read about this. Our family is usually pretty happy and laughter comes easily, but I also read that even if you don't feel it, a good fake laugh can do your body and mind good anyway, so if it's been awhile (and I'm by myself!) I force a good, deep laugh and it works. I feel better.
You'd think we wouldn't have to be told to laugh.

Yes, a friend sent me a cartoon in an email and I laughed a lot over it. Also four of us went out to lunch at a nice place and did a lot of talking and laughing during our meal. I do truly believe in the healing power of laughter and you are right that it is good exercise.

No I have not laughed today.
I think your post is really encouraging so that I will feel healthy and active again.
Well, I've been having this cough and the doctor just gave me some meds for allegies. I guess I have to strengthen my immune system so that I can get rid of this.
Lately, I don't feel like laughing or smiling because of the problems we are facing. My grandmother has been in the hospital for more than 2 weeks (she's in the ICU) and we are running out of funds to pay for the bills. Of course, we don't want to give up on her.
I've been working long hours lately so that I can always make a contribution. But there is one thing I've never done for the past few days, that is laughing. :-(

I can understand you - I do hope you find a solution for your grandmother.
If you want to sell something to get more funds, you might like to use Big Value Depot to sell via Internet or I-phone. You get 5 free listings for your items - the links are on my website.
As for the cough, I would try drinking warm water with a teaspoon of apple vinegar and honey. It can help. I also use garlic and onion, helps even cooked, and you can cut a slice of an onion and put it beside your bed when you sleep.
Try to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and cold pressed oils + coconut oil. gnld.com has many great product for helping the immunity. At least they help for me!!
And of course, try to smile and laugh when you can, life goes up and down, but there are good things happening too. We just have to look for them sometimes..

I just read your well-written article on EC. There used to be a "Laughter is the best medicine" article in Readers Digest magazine and always enjoyed the cartoons and jokes. I try to watch some comedies now and then and have a good laugh. Keep laughing and smiling!

Thanks for reading my article..
You have so many great articles and I keep sending some to Twitter and Facebook - people need to read something positive these days!
I have read Readers Digest too and enjoyed the jokes. Some of the jokes in EC come from RD! I have just changed them a bit so that they were accepted..
Yes, my friend, let us keep smiling and laughing as often as we can!

This is one of the best post I have read ever . You pointed out to a very important aspect that is laughter which many just neglect or don't pay much heed to . I laugh a lot and keep the people around me always in a jovial mood . I strongly believe in the saying that "laughter is the best medicine . I am smiling at the moment and hope to laugh as soon I get a company
Have a smiling day my friend

That's so true, and make s you look younger too. When you LAUGH your body releases a hormone called endorphins also know as the HAPPY HORMONE.
It helps you look VIBRANT.

Maybe we should start a campaign of laughter and publish "before" and "after" pictures and see how young we look after 6 month´s laughing..

hi buenavida yes at a silly thing that happened back a few years when I was working as a page in the children's side of the
Tustin library. the reference crew was all gathered around this one kids computer. I asked and w as told it would not come on at all. so hey had had to call a repair man. well I saw this little boy sitting close by.He was grinning and giggling and watched three women trying to get a company to turn on.The computer cord ran u nder the desk to an outlet ionthe floor. I crouched down and ah yes
it was just unpluged. I plugged it back in and called to the head reference librarian ."Claire it was just unplugged so now boot on an log in its working fine.' She turned around and here was the repair man and he went over to the boy." okay Nathan what have I
told you about playing jokes in the library? the little boy got all teary and said"Daddy I am sorry. Please don't spank me." He went back to Claire.I am sorry my son did that. Hes got this thing about saying goodbye to me in the morning and he missed.I forgot completely. So in a way it is my fault. sorry for the inconvenience," I asked him if he really would spank the little boy he was only like five yrs old." He laughed then and said"well let him think on that but no I do not believe in spanking but privileges like making him go back home and not have children's hour this morning." He went back, took the kid by the arm and propelled him into his car. He was taking out time from work to
punish a very naughty creative kid who wanted to see his daddy. now the branch manager was not amused but only annoyed and chewed me out for not having seen the kid unplug it.well gee thanks now I was supposed to have eyes in the back of my head when I was shelving children's picture books.I did laugh that day to see three adult women all well trained on computers and still none thought to just sheck to see if it was plugged in. lol lol

Wow, that was a story - perhaps they learned to check if the computer was unplugged of net..
I just feel sorry for that little boy - perhaps he preferred to be punished as long as he got attention from his dad.
I had my writer out of function for a long time and then a friend came and pushed the OK button and it worked.. It´s easy when you know how to do it..

It is a big advantage to have a family who loves to laugh. Life is so much easier that way.
Many of my family also loved to laugh, so I have grown up with it too.. I think it helped them recover after the wars they had experienced and think more positive thoughts..
Yup, let´s keep lauhing..

Many people say I am a serious person and I don't laugh much. Maybe it is the reason I appear older than my age. I am just surrounded by serious persons too that don't laugh much but I love to laugh because I want to look younger. They say that if you always smile and laugh, you can look younger and I want it to happen with me. I can easily laugh at jokes or funny faces. I also laugh while watching a comedy.

Laughter is the best medicine .Laughing makes one forget something difficult or troubling. But what is difficult is that when someone meets with some difficulties it is so hard for him to laugh. And if he can laugh in theses situations he must be a strong person.

YES I DID! I LAUGH HARD EVERYDAY. :D
I agree to what you said that laughter really is the best medicine. It shows how optimistic a person is even if it is a bad day. And I think laughing really does make you healthy because you are not prone to having too much wrinkles because of frowning and therefore makes you look and feel younger. :)

I remember reading that frowning takes a lot more effort than smiling.. Let´s keep smiling and laughing when we can and keep younger that way..
