A Dog for Me

I have been wanting a puppy for a long time. The last dogs I had were Labs. All I have to say is I had to get rid of them because I had no clue how on the go they were. They dug holes in my bathroom wall, dug up under my side walk, and tore up my yard. I had a black one and a golden one. Keno and Peaches. Luckily someone saw them and loved them, so they have a nice home. Now, I want one that fits me better. I have a large yard, but want a buddy to role with me. Small or toy, but not one that is too fragile. I also want one that is ok for allergy and asthma. One that does not shed much at all. I'm taking my time this time to weight my options.

I am glad that you took your time to weight your options. Please add on your list of options a stuffed dog. That would perfectly fit your demands: it doesn't shed at all, it is perfec for allergies and asthma, it isn't fragile, it doesn't dig holes anywhere and it can be with you all the time.
Now, seriously, if you want a dog, you must be prepared for lot of puppy energy. If you don't take time to train him or to burn that energy somehow, any dog will dig holes, will shed, bark uncontrollable and be a nuisance.

Small dogs tend to have a lot of energy too. If you go to an ASPC and meet the dogs you can find one that fits you. It really is more of a personality thing then a breed thing. They are like people just can't judge by looks.

Well thank you. That's helpful. I always looked at the breed first and then the personality. I'm not trying to be too picky, but I do have people in my house with allergies and asthma. I was trying to find a breed that does not shed too much and that people with these allergies seem to like.

Hahahaha your not asking for much are you. Dogs have different characters no matter what breed they are. Train them from day 1 be firm with them. Be repetitive with them constantly untill they learn. Unless you get an already pre trained dog, bauld no hair, meduim size. I have a long hair german shepard shes so easy and obeys. Yes she digs holes but thats what dogs do..lol
