I submitted a short story

I submitted a short story to an online magazine called Glimmer Train. For some stories they charge a reading fee but they also have a section called standard stories for which they don't, so I submitted it there. They say that if they accept the story and publish it they'll pay seven hundred dollars, boy, that would be nice. I not getting my hopes up too high, though, I will submit more stories if they don't accept the first one, that's o.k. Have you tried to submit a story to any online publication? If so, did it work out for you, have any luck with it? Your thoughts, my lot, friends!

Good luck on getting yours accepted. And yeah, I can imagine how nice getting paid $700 for a story you've written would be! I've been thinking about trying to write some short stories and trying to get them published myself. I'll have to check out the magazine. I've never submitted any to any real publications myself. By that I mean I have written stories in the past that I've put on sites like Fiction Press but that's about it.

I have not tried submitting my work to a publishing house. First, because I don't think my works are that good to be publish. I am just a beginner when it comes to writing.

Years ago, I too submitted short stories to Glimmer Train on several occassions, and each time I did, my work was always rejected. I finally realized that they were a scam. I stayed away from it and other periodicals like it, because it the end, the only wanted my money.

$700 may be too good to be true.. i dunno..but normally an article would just be 5-10 dollars...
