I Am A Bum!

These are the words that my eldest child wrote on the cheeks of my youngest yesterday. I ought to have been furious with them both, one for doing it and the other for allowing it, but I was laughing too hard to be cross! At that stage I hadn't tried to get it off though. Now I've discovered that it's in some sort of pen which does not want to budge. I've scrubbed him till he's red, and I've tried using olive oil and moisturisers to 'soak' it off, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone any suggestions? Thank goodness it's the Easter holidays from school so it doesn't matter too much if he goes around with writing on his face. What stupid things have your kids done?

Kids will be kids wherever they are! When this happened with my boys, 20 years ago, I used nail polish remover. It was on my youngest's forehead and was a picture rather than words, they were only 3 and 4! It just goes to show you that when you're working in the kitchen and the kids are too quiet, run as fast as you can and see what they're doing!!

Nail varnish remover is next in the arsenal! I hadn't actually thought of it myself, which is peculiar for me as I use it for some many other things! But never on my nails!

No kids but have you tried nail polish remover? I was actually watching a vlog yesterday and the vlogger had marker on her face and removed it with nail polish remover. If not then maybe the hand soap for mechanics will work.

I've tried that green gloopy stuff for oil with bits in (can't remember what it's called!) but I'll give nail polish remover a go. Not what I'd choose to put on a kid's face, but this is getting to be an emergency!

Wow!! Writing with a pen or marker of some sort that does not want to come off. That does not sound good. I hope it did eventually come off, and you hid that marker or pen so it would not be used like that again. I know kids are normally doing things like this, and picking on each other like this. I am sure we did some of this back in the day as well.

They were far too quiet. I should have guessed they were up to something stupid.

If the suggestions above work for you but it still leaves a little mark, try make up foundation to 'disguise' it. With make up I think your kids wouldnt want to try doing it again unless they are girls who will be thrilled. This happened a few months ago, my then 7 year old daughter was playing with my then 14 year old son. We were at the shopping centre when I heard her scream. Turned out my sons finger accidently poked the inside of her eye. She complained that it still hurt after a few hours so we (my sisters and I) brought her to the clinic which asked us to send her to the hospital rightaway. At the hospital the doctor examined her and to my surprise asked her if her brother beat her often. I kept quiet holding my breath and to my relief she answered no straightaway and that it was accidental. She has to go for one more examination at the eye clinic to ensure that her eye is okay. It was quite serious because the doctor told me it scratched her cornea. Thank God that that one examination is enough to ensure the doctor that the eye is going to be alright. I would have been very worried if she has to go for more. It wasnt very funny but it is something that has to happen when we have kids, huh?

That sounds scary. I´m glad she´s OK. It´s so easy to damage an eye in play. My son once tripped and fell onto a toy fire engine, which cut him just a fraction below his eye. Imagine if he had been a centimeter further forward when he fell!

Nail polish remover. no joke. I swear by it. I work as a receptionist for a printing company and I get ink on my arms and hands a lot.. and diluted nail polisher remover works a complete treat! what also works, though not just QUITE as well, is anything with tea tree oil in it! :) very funny story lol! what age are the kids?

Old enough to know better LoL Thankfully it´s off now, but I appreciate the tea tree oil hint. I don´t fancy using nail varnish remover on the face (though I do use it to soak off well stuck on plasters).

haha! TEA TREE OIL IS FANTASTIC!! i use it on everything that needs that paint stripper/nail polish remover edge.. as I don't like using those chemicals on my skin as I have eczema :)

I hope you have found some success by now. My kids used to do that to one another too...a long time ago...it used to make me very upset because is seemed like they did it when it wasn't convient like going to church or pictures or something like that....My granddaughter and I get ink on our hands from stamping and it has to wear off....bummer!

hi greenmoo well I see nail polish remover has alread y been suggested but I am thinking gentler try hydrogen peroxide as it will bleach hair should take the color off the skin and not hurt it at all.some of those pens have marking ink in them for putting ones name on clothing and I know it will not wash out in the wash. hope hydrogen peroxide will work.I am a bu m is sort of c ute if only they had used washable ink instead.as for stupid things how about an adult son who was talking to me and tossing his soft drink can about from one hand to the other then he goes to open it and it geysers up and hits the ceiling in a nice rootbeer brown color. dripping down on us. angry and also laughing at his startled face when he realized his drink was now on the ceiling not in his can. lol at 52 one wou ld think he should have known better lol.and in a room that belonged to Gold crest too. theyh just assumed it was from an old roof leak that had been repaired so I let them think that too embarrassed to explain the real cause. lol

Aw...no kids but a silly thing that my brother and I did when we were little. We were supposed to be in the kitchen cleaning up the dishes and we had our radio blaring and my mom was in the other room working on some other house work. We were dancing to some music in the kitchen and then all of a sudden me and my brother collided into one another. His mouth was wide open and he ran into my nose and chipped his tooth on my nose (we still laugh about that as of today), but of course it hurt me really bad. There was blood everywhere from a gash he put on my nose from running into it and a piece of his tooth was on the floor. My brother had to walk around with a chipped front tooth for a week till he could get to the dentist and well I had to go to the emergency room and had to walk around with a big bandage on my nose. Now I still to this day have a scar on my nose from that incident. Another time, I don't know what led to this I just know that I upset my brother really bad one day when I was little. And one day while I was in my room sleeping he came in with a razor and shaved off half of my eyebrow. omg it was so embarrassing I had to walk around for weeks with a half eyebrow. . And to this day that one eyebrow never grows right. Lol. It is true when you here too much quiet in the house with your kids its time to check in on them and see what they're doing.

I do hope you get the marker off his face though. I think that nail polish remover should work. Please let us know.

For some reason, my kids think it funny when they talk about disgusting things. So this sort often come up at inappropriate times, which is usually dinner. You'd have to have a strong stomach to endure these things that they laugh about while eating. It isn't stupid yet, but I'm sure it will be when we'd have guests. Or if we are at other people's houses having dinner.

I´m sure lots of parents will recognise this! It does make me wonder what they talk about over the lunch table at school.

Maybe try some peroxide or some baking soda. But if you do let it sit for a few minutes. And maybe toothpaste. You need something that will go under the skiing to lift it off. I hope these things might work for you.
