Made my own taco seasonings

Last night I researched taco recipes and just mexican cuisine in general. I saw a recipe for my own taco seasonings. I thought well I could do that. I didn't follow the recipe to the T. Instead I just used Chili Powder and Onion Flakes. It still made for some pretty good taco's, and I couldn't taste much of a difference between the old el paso packets and this stuff. EXCEPT of course this seemed lighter and I think I enjoy it more. I always have Tortilla's in the fridge and cheese tomato, lettuce isn't hard to get. I think I'll be doing my tacos this way from now on. Have you ever made your own taco seasonings? What kind of meat do you usually use?

I've used it on regular beef before, but I got great results when I used taco seasonings on tofu. It was SO good. And super healthy.

On Tofu? Hmm I've been wanting to try tofu, I think I may just try to use it one time just to see what it would be like.

I recommend it. Just be sure to read how to store it if you have leftovers.

Some commercial seasonings have too much salt, or MSG, or even sugar, you are better off seasoning your own. I usually use chili powder with extra garlic, cumin and turmeric. I do the turmeric because it is good for arthritis and other body aches and pains. My family likes my spice mixes. I usually use ground beef, extra lean. I have also used shredded chicken, or there is a recipe I use that involves pork loin roast cooked either with green enchilada sauce or with salsa, and refried beans mixed in. It is so good in tortillas, or over rice or potatoes or in a hard shell or on tortilla chips. Making me hungry

Home made tacos are so Yummy. I like it a bit more mild now days myself. I don't like lettuce but I do like cheese and tomatoes. We used to make our own taco seasoning. Infact I used to make everything when my daughter was young. Not so anymore. We just use regular hamburger and with none of the pink stuff in it.
