Creativity is Needed!

I find that some weeks we are quite poor (we get our extra money at the end of the month) but the weeks in between, i have to be creative, not only with food, left overs, and lunches but just in general. For instance, i had a lot of cross stitch thread and i needed to have something for my daughter's friends that came to her birthday party, so i made bracelets using the Chinese Staircase knot and i made booklets using recipe cards and a binder ring (you can get them at Staples) as well as old game cards which i covered with left over scrapbooking paper (i scrapbooked my daughter's baby books for them for Christmas) and used these covered cards for the front and back (they were roughly the same size as the recipe cards).
what have you used your creativity on lately?

Ohhhh - those are nice, crafty ideas! And they mean something more simply because they are handmade by you. Let's see . . . recently my daughter had to make a leprechaun trap for school - and for these school family projects, we always use stuff we already have on hand. This year's "concept" for it was to catch a leprechaun by luring he/she with a store full of lucky gold shoes to try on - but little did they know there was sticky stuff in the shoes so they can't escape! We used a dollar store pizza pan and leftover green felt for the base. The gold shoes were made with cornstarch/baking soda air dry clay (a recipe found online), gold spray paint (which lasts forever), leftover confetti from last St. Patrick's Day), and some green pipe cleaners (for flip flops and laces). We made toadstools (which also had a sticky trap) for them to sit on as they try on shoes . . . made of circle cotton pads I never used and rolled up paper for the stem. My daughter created various signs and a big rainbow with paper and sticks we had laying around. Anyway, it was a grandiose idea that looked grandiose in the end - but we didn't have to spend any extra money for that project!

This sounds really cool and fun to do and a nice way to be frugal. However I'm not creative at all and wouldn't be able to come up with these kind of creative arts and crafts ideas...

Sounds like you had a couple of great ideas! I've been contemplating something for my 9 month old granddaughter for Easter. They will be here for dinner so I want some kind of Easter basket and gift for her. I found a pattern for a knitted duck and one for a bunny egg holder so I have made those from yarn I already had. I wanted some kind of treat and looked at the toddler's cookies at the store, but wasn't sure about them. This morning it finally dawned on me that I could probably find a recipe for teething biscuits online, and I did! Simple, too, and I can shape them into egg shapes. I'll make a special one for the bunny egg holder instead of putting an egg in it.
I still have to come up with something for a basket, but I might bite the bullet and go to Big Lots to see what they have. If not, I'll figure out something. For me, part of the fun of crafting is seeing how I can use what I already have.

I've been trying to stretch everything lately - due to a family emergency, we've used a lot of household money on things like restaurant food, which seems silly but kind of had to happen.
I've been being very creative with our food lately. Lunches have been rice bowls, which is really just rice with whatever I can find in the fridge. We had this for dinner one night too.
I like the little booklet idea. I think that would work really well as little flashcards, too.

That would require thinking, but I've been pretty tired and unable to think too clearly.
Tho, someone came into the Bakery today and wanted souvenir type magnates or key chains, and I thought... "I could cross stitch a little Austin/Texas something and glue it on a magnate..." Doing it, however... well, I just thunk it up today...

Very ingenious! I'd love to see your creations but I'm sure they're all gone by now, huh?
I've been creative lately myself. I just recently pulled out all of my summer clothes that I had put away for the winter and went through them to decide which ones I wanted to keep and which I wanted to donate. I came across one tank-top kind of blouse that had a small stain in the front and was disappointed because I really loved that blouse. Then I had a brainstorm. I decided to cut that blouse up in strips, then roll the strips up into "flowers" and sew them onto a plain shirt I have. The colors in the stained shirt went very well with the plain shirt and it looks terrific, like I paid a lot of money for it (which I didn't). I'll be doing the same thing to a few other shirts I have, too, just place the "flowers" in different patterns across the front.
I love doing this kind of thing. It keeps the ol' brain from rotting away and it's so much fun.

Well lately my big thing is Crocheting, and I always seem to be expiramenting and trying something new. I always am trying to come up with ideas to create things, especially when I am down to small balls of yarn. But for you to make the Bracelets like that is a Great idea, and probably cheaper than the kits you see. I hope your daughters friend enjoyed the gift.

I got a dress for ten cents at a thrift sale. We will not say how many years ago. I remodeled it into a skirt and top trimmed with ribbon that I already had. I am always creative with food.

What a cute idea! I bet they look great! Right down my alley too! I used to do all that kind of stuff, but since the kids are gone...don't really have it in me anymore. I quilt and just finished quilts for each of my grand children (5 of them) and now am starting planning on things I will do next year!
But my way of "savings" is to collect coupons from Joann's craft store and Michael'scraft store and any other craft store coupon...take them to Joannes and they take all competitors coupons! Plus they have a coupon for 20% off entire purchase so often I am getting items at 80% off! I biuy fabric this way and also stock up on supplies I know I will use..that way, when I dont' have the cash, I have a stock of what I need... and only paid 25% for it! Kind of fun to do. I go in with about 10 coupons and come out with a cart load of stuff, but my wallet still nearly full!

the last time i did was to recycle a gift that was a repeat of another. money was scarce that time and there is someone who'll be celebrating a birthday and i gave that gift because i will not be needing it because there is already an available unit which was exactly the same.

Me and my crew stranded in a semi-arid area. No water to cool our car’s cooling system that overhead. We did not know anywhere to get water around. Some baboons show up and gives me an idea. Baboons do not live far away from a water source. We dart one with a compound to dehydrate it and after a few hours it will lead as to the oasis. It worked.

You are so creative with making birthday presents for your friend's baby.To make cards with hands and show meaning is so important and express the gift feeling. Bracelets are made by hand are mother's heart when they did until a beautiful and colorful shining bracelets finished .It is so amazing you think about the idea to make the booklet with you child's baby book at christmas. Its is also a good idea to use game cards, some cards are interesting with legend or magic transformers. People are with caucious, heart, and creative ,in every place need creative. Like cook, people used to their diet and feeling boring, then if you change the method ,like to do beef, my friend do it for me, put hot pepper ,green, red , onion on beef ,with oil, vinegar, the salt, gourmet powder, the beef became more delicious .
Other way ,people always think creatively ,after the horse, people invent car, after car ,invent plane ,maybe now we can hidden from view, like stealth bomber.
Creative make people do things freedom, change the customer.
