We are all born to be helpful. Let me share to you my experience. One day I've seen this old woman having difficulty to get on the other side of the street due to heavy traffic. I just came from the bank that time because its part of my duties on my previous job. there is something in me saying that I can not leave her on that situation, so instead of going directly to my office, I stopped and helped her to cross the street. She thanked me non-stop. She praised me and all. I told her, "Grandma, you should not thank me too much for that simple act. The truth is, I should thank you more because you have given me a chance to do good things."

Everyone should help other people if they have the chance to do so, but the sad fact is that far too many of us choose not to help others because we're too busy thinking about the things that we need to do in our own lives rather than taking the time to think about other people. I have a lot of friends who I know will help me whenever I need them to do so, and I like to think that they know that I would be there for them as well. We are a close knit group and we always go to each other in times of trouble, which I think is just lovely really.

Hi GemmaR! Being busy is not an excuse for not doing good things to others. You are also lucky to have friends around who are willing to help. Thank you for the great response.

Sometimes, those tiny things or act of kindness made a big impact on others. You are right that if a person give thanks for your deeds, don't be overwhelmed, instead give them also thanks for giving you a chance to make good deeds to others.
Nowadays, there are only few person that will do what you did. I salute you for that.!

Hi Asdomencil! I think there are still many people around who has a helping hand. This is a nature inherent in every one of us. Thank you for the response.

Yes, helping others is already a natural to everyone of us, but sometimes those who wants to help are hesitant to do so because they are afraind of what others will say. Perhaps we must not think others might tell us but instead think of the happiness that we will bring to those we helped.

You are such a helpful person. Not many people would do such a thing, especially in this modern time. Many tend to be more individualistic. Your kindness will be rewarded by God, not by her to be sure.

Wow really nice,
Ive done a couple of those too and vehicles are more than helpful to stop for the cause and let us pass, some thanks you and some don't as they think that it is our duty as the young and strong to help them, well i think it is our responsibility to help the old in what way we can right and besides as you've said she has helped you do something good that day wow you are thinking in an amazing way my friend.

Thank you for that compliment. I know that there are many good things most of us are doing in everyday life. There are several who have been rewarded for doing acts of kindness but most are not. Well, at any rate we should not be expecting anything in return if we do good things. Yes, you are right, its our responsibility to help the old and other people who might need it.

I love to hear of good deeds, makes me smile that people still have good manners and willing to help others especially the old and frail. I wish more people had the same attitude,:0)

Hello Aries,
You had done a great job, she must be very happy as you helped her to cross the road easily. I too had an opportunity to serve old people like this way. It is really difficult them to cross the road when there is heavy traffic, even if there is a zebra crossing for walkers, the drivers feel so hard to stop the vehicle, especially they never care aged people. If anybody helps them to cross the road easily they are showering blessings on them just because of their happiness. Another reason is all people are not kind and considerate to the aged people because all are busy with their own stuffs.

There is nothing that could amount to doing something good and then feeling good, knowing you made a difference and made an impact on someone's life. A simple act of kindness really lifts the hearts of those who would offer unsolicited help in time of need.

It felt so light when we able to do good things to others
Me one time i saw a kid standing beside a bakeshop waiting for some body to give her something to eat. I've noticed the kid serveral times. Then one day i decided to give her and she is so happy and even share it to her other sibling and mother.
So happy cos they have something for breakfast already.
Let us all continue do good things to others

That is true. I myself also loves helping people anyway and as much as I can. The feeling is rewarding. It makes me feel happy. We are all brothers and sisters and it is just right to be helpful to others and treat them like our family members. I am glad to know that there are so many good people around. Take care.

There was a good joke with a guy who was asked what was the last good thing he did.He said "today i helped an old lady to get on the other side of the street" .The others told him that`s such a sweet thing but then he said "Oh well i had to fight a little with the old lady because she didn`t wanted to go there"

Hi iuliuxd. Thank you for sharing that story. It was a funny one! Sometimes, our willingness to help might not be very pleasing to others. But as the most important thing is that we did what we know is right.
