Bantayan Island, an island off Cebu province, known for its white sand beach and night life fun. During Holy Week, they celebrate their town feast and ironic as it may sound, people splurge on night parties and roasted pig when it's most discouraged in the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, Bantayan Island is a great place to be if you're looking for a nice and budget-friendly beach getaway.

I really wanna go there before it is turned to a state Boracay is in now. I hope they can preserve the pristine beauty of the place for some years more. I was saddened by an article that due to its popularity, cleanliness around the area is starting to deteriorate. I hope the local government can do something about it.

Im not too sure about the cleanliness issue. The last time I went there, last year, everything is still fine. More and more tourists do visit the place, and perhaps on peak seasons, due to increasing number of visitors, garbage and such could take more effort cleaning up. More resorts are also opening up around the shores and even in the city proper.

bantayan island is just one of the many islands in cebu. you can also visit the malapascua. it has the same atmosphere like the bantayan island.
i hope that cebu government will maintain the simplicity ofthe island. i hope it will not became "noisy" boracay in the future.

Malapascua is also a favorite. Although, its farther, and boat transfer requires some effort especially on low tide. We have to transfer from a small boat to the bigger one (twice). But, i love the serenity of the place. Plus, food there is great, too.

Cebu is in the central part - Visayas region. If you fly to Manila, which is the capital of the country, you can take a 45-min to 1 hour flight to Cebu. Cebu City is the 2nd metrocity in the Philippines.

You're right, it won't be quiet for the Holy Week and I guess for the whole summer season.

Yes it is true. I like the place because it is not very crowded yet. I can still appreciate the calmness of the sea, the pristine white sand and the smell of the salty air. A perfect getaway from the busy atmosphere of the city and it is not an expensive trips.
