We all go to work, and we might work for some big corporations, or companies, they usually have their own intranet systems which share the resources within their own employees. I just wonder, I don't have a company of my own, but I have several computer at home, can I, myself to set up my own intranet network within my very own house? What do I need besides 2 or more computers as hardware. How about softwares? like Apache, and other content management software that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

I think the internet provider will do the job, my friend. I have two PCs at home and we have internet connection provided. I don't have to buy anything else, the rest of the job is the provider's responsibility.

You will need to install specific software to accomplish this, of which there are several choices available.
You could try enquiring at work what software they use and what type of pricing this involves. The company that I work for uses Propalms, although your company may be using something totally different. You would also need to select a computer to serve as a hub to connect incoming traffic to it's destination, and on each other computer you will have to install the client software to support the link.
I have no dea what the price would be or whether it would require a reguar monthly fee, but this can easily be checked at the website of whatever software you decide to use.

What is it you are trying to achieve?
If it is file sharing then your broadband modem usually now includes a hub or switch. You can then connect up to four computers by ethernet cable to the modem/hub if it has four ethernet sockets in the back, as most do.
