My mom is such a fan for these! Whenever she reads something new, she would get curious and buy it. Like for example, she heard success stories about barley, then she buys it; then after a couple of weeks, she read something about wheatgrass and then she would buy a packet of these. Oh mom! I told her, "you are taking tooooooo many food supplements and now you cant tell which of them is really effective on you. hahahah!"
Which supplements are you taking now? How many do you take? Do you honestly think that they are working? Dont you experiment with yourself for 2 months before you continuously take them?

She should be careful and read on the internet or label the indication and adverse effects. Some plants give renal disease or hepatic insufficiency. I know a case .........a lady taking Symphytum officinale (common comfrey) for gallstones. She cured her gallstones alright but had hepatic insufficiency and needed liver transplant. Food supplements are good only when you have a functional condition; you should not take them when you are perfectly healthy.

I don't.Just be very cautious with these supplements, especially when you're taking other medicines. Also, better to consult your doctor before taking.

Currently I am not taking any food supplements, but I have tried Barley like your mom and I would have to say based on my personal experience I think it is excellent and definitely does work, but you do have to use for a good period of time in order to see results. I used for a period of almost 5 months. My mom was also taking them with me and I believe she is still taking them and loves it.

Yeah too many food supplements in the market right now but I never tried anyone of these and no plan as of the moment to take or use anyone of it.Some says that it is effective but it I'm wondering about the message of each supplements that it has no therapeutic claim.

I don't take any food supplements as I feel that I get the required nutrients from the food that I eat and I don't really need supplements. Also, I'm not sure how effective these food supplements actually are...

There are lot of stuff like that here in the Philippines. I don't really believe on those supplements. They even came with a warning, "No Approved Therapeutic Claim". However, I do take supplements like fish oil, vitamins C and E every day. I don't eat much foods with those so I take supplements. Also, I believe that fish oil is very good to our body. I would suggest that you take them too.

I am not very interested in buying various kinds of food supplements. I think that if you are not a picky eater, then your nutritions shall be good enough. It is not so necessary to buy extra food supplements. This is why I don't take any food supplements. I believe in the natural food.

hi grace.
i take food supplements as well. i actually drink both green barley and wheatgrass. i really like what both supplements have done for me.i know the improvement in my health isn't just psychological in nature but physically as well.
a bottle of green barley is usually taking for a week's time. i take two sips (i fill the bottle cap) in the morning immediately after i wake up and before sleeping. i take 2 packets of wheatgrass every other day before going to sleep. i believe that taking both supplements plus eating healthy and doing exercises has helped me lose weight and maintained my ideal weight for the past two months.
this isn't an endorsement whatsoever for the two supplements as these supplements may affect others differently. anyway, hopefully, your mom gets the same great benefit i get from taking these two supplements.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Barley, oats, wheat grass, sprouted beans were all normal food once upon a time. The fact that the human race is existing and thriving is proof that these are not harmful at all and useful in their own ways. Let your mother take her fill, that will make her feel good and also maintain her health naturally. The fact that she buys and eats them is encouraging, I usually buy, taste and then wisely decide that it is not for me.
The only natural supplement I am allowed to take is the root of the toddy tree, called "taga" in the language we speak at home. It is very high in proteins, moderate on carbs, and full of fiber and tastes very bad.
