Good day to everyone on Mylot. I am going to be cooking a small 12 pound Turkey for my Family this Sunday. I have no experience cooking a turkey. But I do enjoy cooking! And I am excited to tackle this one. Can you all maybe give me some tips, or do's and dont's! So I don't completely dry the poor guy out. Im excited! But i don't want to ruin it.....

Well I can definitely say do not try to fry the turkey. That causes a lot fires that I'm sure you're going to want to avoid. My best advice would be to slow cook the turkey but try not too cook it too long. And do not just leave it cooking. You want to make sure you check on it.

lol no frying here! What would you suggest best temperature would be, like around 350?

That seems to be a good temp. however I have heard people use 400 degrees more often. here is a link to a recipe that might help you out. simplyrecipes.com/recipes/moms_roast_turkey/
