Hey, how are you feeling now?
have you tried gargles? Im from the Philippines, Bactidol is one of the gargles marketed here and it's the one i often use everytime i have sore throat.
but, i really find relief if i eat green sour mango topped with spicy shrimp paste and some salt. it makes me voice scratchy a bit but i dont feel the sore on the next day. it is really yummy treatment (for me).

I have always heard gargling with salt water helps however I would suggest you see a doctor. There is all kinds of stuff going around right now. Have a grandbaby with streph and a friend who has pneumonia. If you don't want to go into the doctor's office you might call and see if the doctor will prescribe something for you. One more thing you might try at home is putting honey in your tea. Feel better.

i have just had the same thing. make sure you drink lots of water besides tea because tea dehydrates you. just rest, take tylonels for the pain and call the doctor if you get any worse. i ended up getting bronchitis from my bug (but not to worry, my lungs are weak anyways).

I feel that way for days now and guess what this is what I'm taking I hope this will do wonders for you.Squeeze on lemon juice and mix with honey and drink it every morning or even before going to bed.If your sore throat persist, try gargling with luke warm water and rack salt mix it and gargle it.What I am suggesting to you are just home remedies and it doesn't assure you that it will cure your sore throat but some people do that specially if you have limited budget for medicines. This will only make you comfortable at a given time but not a medicine for sore throat. If it still hurts I suggest you buy lozenges.Orofar lozenges or strepsil are the best for me.Lozenges are like candy in form and should be taken every two hours I think but you have to remember, even they look like candies they are still medicines.Avoid drinking or eating cold water and ice cream for a while so that it will lessen the sore on your throat.I hope this suggestions can help you . :)

Up until about 3 years ago, I'd get a cold or flue several times each winter, then quite by chance I found the remedy.
I was shopping in Mexico, and I found a bottle of cheap tequila ($3,50 American) in a Grocery store. Shortly after, I caught a cold, and was coughing so bad I couldn't sleep. So I opened the bottle and downed a shot neat. My coughing eased, and after another shot I went back to bed and was able to get some sleep. Its wonderful for a sore throat also, just keep drinking until your symptoms cease!
for me it works every time, but since that time About 3 years ago I have had no colds or flue!

Yep...it's going around. I've had it for two days now and I NEVER get sick. My girls worry that I'm dying mainly because I NEVER get sick and so I'm probably acting as if I'm dying. It's horrible. I'm feeling a little bit better tonite but I really can sympathize with you, BJ. Hope it passes quickly for you as it did for me. I took a hot shower tonite and that helped a lot. Also pushing myself to move and do things helped, I think. As much as I hated it and as hard as it was, staying in bed was not an option for me. I felt somewhat better as the day moved on.

hi bjc66bjc I had the same thing, Its the flu and it will need seeing your doctor finally for antibiotics as it turns into
bronchitis and if you do not get that treated it could work into
walking pneumonia.but a week of the really strong antibiotic and you feel great again. I had the bronchitis so bad I was coughing
up bloody phlegm.Thats when I finally went to my doctor and in a week of antibiotics I was really well again.Flu with a headache, sore throat like you cannot believe and aching oh my it was awful I was ill half of December and all of January.Hope you fare much better than I did. do see your do ctor as you will have to.

I discovered one simple yet effective way of combating sore throat. Make a cup of coffee, any brand will do, make it hot, something real hot but tolerable by your throat. Then drink the coffee while it's still hot. The heat in the coffee kills microbes in sore throats.

Probably you are allergic pollen. As you know, many of my co - workers are allergic pollen, and they have similar symptoms as you described above. They are runny nose, sore throat, and sore bones. Probably with the weather change, hopefully more rain coming this weekend to wash away those pollen, you might eventually feeling better with it.

Since you have already drank a lot of fluids and it did not work, I suggest that you start taking medicine. If you do not want medicine yet, try some vitamins to boost your immune system. Seems like you got the flu right there
