My big problem is I always drink coffee whenever I work on computer even I am not sleepy at all. Unfortunately working with a computer is my job so that I dont drink coffee in the weekend only. Sometime, instead of drink coffee, I force myself drink tea or pure water but after that I still go to buy coffee even though I told myself many times that dont drink coffee more... It is not good when drink coffee a lots, especially for women, then I wanna give up it, but How? Could anyone give me a hint to help me.

My father is just like you since he quit smoking, he drink 6-8 cups of coffee a day or more,my mom always told him to limit for at least total of 2-4 cups because too much coffee is not also good for the health but he still like that until now, but I think it's better than smoking.

Hello friend,
You are right. Coffee is better than smoke. But coffee is also not a good thing for our health. So it is also a bad habit. I think your father can take tea exchange the coffee.
Have a nice day.

Some coffee isn't bad for you but like anything else, too much of a good thing van become poisonous to your system. Go ahead and allow yourself one cup of coffee in the morning or early afternoon. Then stop for the day. Drink water up until about five in the evening and then taper off or you will be up all night using the rest room. Coffee is somewhat addicting so you may have to taper off slowly. But once off the coffee, stay off.

You can't really give up something that you really love. Just refrain from drinking too much of it. It can be bad for the body - too much caffeine, why not try milk tea, or chocolate drink for a while.

i don't think you can give it up like that by withdrawing from it abruptly. you can taper it down like instead of drinking coffee 3x a day, you ca reduce it to 2x. also for example instead of 1 table spoon of coffee, you can make that 3/4 then so on. you can do it, good luck

I really love coffee smell and its taste. So that like your said, i may not give up it immediately, just drink it lesser. It is really good idea: Instead of drink strong coffee, I can still drink 4 cups of coffee but weak type. I will try it today. Thank you so much.

I usually drink coffee in the morning to help me go through the day or when I needed to stay awake late at night for work.Drinking coffee can have a good and bad effect. Coffee is rich in antioxidants that is why it is beneficial to protect your liver from liver cirrhosis and cancer. It contains caffeine which acts as a stimulant thus helping you to become awake and it also acts as an analgesia. On the other hand, coffee can damage the gastrointestinal organs. Too much caffeine can also cause anxiety and sleep changes. it can also cause iron deficiency anemia because it inhibits the absorption of iron. Thus, we should drink coffee in moderation.

Exactly how many cups of coffee do you drink in a day? If it's just one or two cups, then it's just okay. But you have to stop when it's already three cups. Like what you're always doing, I think drinking teas also help. It's also better if you just drink water. But if you want some tasty water, it's better to opt for fruit juices instead of coffee.

Everything is OK in moderation, at least that's what I tell myself. LOL. But if you really like the taste of coffee, you should try switching to half-caf coffee or de-caf. Half-caf is when there is only half of the caffeine that normal coffee has, and de-caf of course has no caffeine in it. They taste a little different but still have that 'coffee' taste to them. I personally love how coffee tastes. Tea really does nothing for me! It's on my 'to do list' to cut back on the caffeinated stuff. Give it a shot! Best of luck to you!

i myself also experience the same scenario. For me instead of drinking coffee while working in front of the computer i try to eat apples or other fruits. fruits does the same work as coffee in keeping me awake at night but it has less/no caffeine. you can also try chewing gums. the menthol in the gum awaken your senses.

Thanks mizstress,
:) my mouth is so tired when hewing gums. Another problem that i got with gums is i often feel nausea whenever sugar of gums is gone, then I may don't use chewing gums. Eating fruits is totally nice to me, i like to eat any type of fruits a lot. i will apply it to give up coffee...^^

Hi ryanong, Welcome to Mlylot
We're on the same boat and you're not alone, I am also a coffee addict and I do drink a lot of coffee. Just like you it was just to give it up but I tried it hard for my self because too much coffee especially for women is not good. Before I do drink a 2 mugs of coffee everyday and now I only drink 1cup of coffee a day. I reduce my coffee intake gradually and soon I will be no longer coffee drinker. You can do it to ryanong.

Hello friend,
It is a bad habit. You should change yourself. You can take tea exchange for coffee. Tea is a healthy drink and it is beneficial.
Have a nice day.

Get rid of all your coffee. And don't buy any more. You have to go and buy coffee, just stop yourself on the way.
It takes some willpower, but push yourself a little for it.
If that doesn't work try counting them, and each day drink one less coffee cup. Or each 2-3 days. Find a pace that suits you.

Since i posted this topic to ask you guys advice, my habit of drinking coffee is still same, even though I tried to stop it. When I think of coffee, i used to keep myself stay in the office for a while, but 30 mins later, i go to another room in my department and find coffee as if i haven't drank coffee since morning of that day. I just dont think of coffee when i dont sit in the front of computer only.

Caffeine is a highly addictive compound that many people have come to depend on for the perception of increased energy. Caffeine keeps you going by preventing the chemical adenosine from telling the brain it’s time to relax. The result is a surge of unnatural energy, but over time, the brain becomes accustomed to the threshold and requires even greater amounts of caffeine to provide the same increase in alertness. This is what makes caffeine products such as coffee so addictive and it explains why the lines at coffee shops are always so long. My advice is not to stop drinking coffee, but just to decrease the times you drink coffee. I think is normal to drink one or two cup's of coffee in the morning :) good luck
