Better to rant on mylot than on facebook

Hello, everybody! You know that feeling when you are so mad that you want to post something online about people you really hate and it seem hard to contain this strong emotion? Well, I'm pretty sure most of us have experienced this kind of feeling.
Some of us post on facebook, probably the worst website to rant about things. It's a terrible idea since everyone knows you and they would judge you for sure for how you behave there. So, i think it's better to rant on mylot since when you are in this website, you can rant and write about it as much as you want, earn money from it, get responders that can truly understand and even support you, calm you down and offer you good advice. In facebook, people would probably just give you one liners that really don't mean anything. Some even post something completely irrelevant.
What do you think? Do you agree?

Both Facebook and MyLot have their good and bad points, I use both and get great results.
Facebook makes me money on sales and I make a little from posting on Mylot.

hmm, yeah i agree to what you're saying. and sometimes, in facebook, when you post something to relieve your anger someone will update their status and you would know that they're pinpointing you. that's why i agree that mylot is a much better site to post something and calm down. also, in here. you can meet new friends. XD

I think that MyLot is a much better place to rant than on Facebook, because there aren't as many people who know me on here and this means that I have less chance of getting in trouble for things that I choose to say. A lot of the time, I will anger people on Facebook, but at least on here you can always find somebody who has the same views as you, and I will admit that this is one of the things that I enjoy the most about MyLot, and everyone on here is so nice and understanding about everything that it is the perfect place to air your views if you wish to.

It's pretty much common sense. If we are not careful with the words we choose that we post on facebook, we are at risk. If we want to express something there, we have to be ready to take the consequences. of course, the best thing to do then would be not to post on facebook at all if what we are attempting to post could harm us in some way.

I love mylot although I don´t rant much. I rant at home, a yell all I want since I´m alone, calm down and come to post here. But I can tell you I just hate bacebook. It is an invation to privacy and, as you say, people don´t really talk to each other there. Oneliners are in and quality conversations are out of the way. Still everyone gets to know your whereabouts, even people you don´t want to.

As I´m old, I still prefer the phone. And now it´s so easy to chat at the computer or send an email. It is a lot more private. I had to delete a lot of people from my Facebook. They were spamming me grossly.

facebook can be dangerous to us if we are not careful. but i have to admit using facebook has its benefits, let's not let facebook take control over us.

haha, there are many spammers online. So we should watch out for them too. It helps if we don't take notice of those posts they post, it can't harm us physically at least. I like communicating by phone too, but it is costly for those who contact people internationally, since chatting and emailing is free, then they are perfect for that purpose.

I totally agree that MyLot is the best place where you can rant and rant and rant. Can I start here now? Just kidding!
Indeed, you've completely said it all. You get good advice at the same time you earn here for sharing everything that you wish to share and nobody here would give you nonsense.
But talking about how you're angry, I think, is just isn't enough here in MyLot. You also have to go through a process of calming down and releasing the negative emotion in order to share to the world how you got over such anger. That way, it can become valuable to the MyLot community.
Have a nice day and Happy MyLotting!

I know what you mean. And I know some people who are very rude in online games too. There was a time when I was playing in Luna Online and went to a place filled with PKers (Player Killers), --people there can PK as long as the settings of those victims allows PKing. The default setting has been set to allowed. So players who are newbies of the game gets killed.-- I noticed that one by one players, whose levels are less than 15 to 10, disappeared from the map(they have to go back to a safe place in order to buy items or rest to regain their life points). I have set my level to level 4 if others will see my stats but I already have a level 30 character. So, I was minding my own business killing some monsters, dancing around and doing whatnot when the PK field activated and a player is attacking me.
The funny thing was, the player was about to use a technique when I used mine that pushed him away and I got to hit him with multiple arrows using my own technique under the discipline of using bow and arrows. I was far from being defeated and he, about to leave me be. Before going he asked me what's my level...maybe in disbelief or something. I told him, "Try that to me again, newbie, ten years from now".
You do get those kinds of people along the internet but just disregard them and have fun. My sister encountered people like that in her online game just yesterday. She was shouted at "STOP LEECHING, AKAI". Akai is her character's name. Still a newbie but isn't leeching. My sister didn't respond but she did feel bad. But she did say, that person's character is way colorful and it's so ugly to look at.
When playing around, just have fun even at your own and to hell with those arrogant people. Have a nice day and Happy MyLotting!

Right on, rose. I think mylot is quite civilized. It's not just a bunch of random people who are out to try ruin other people's lives just to feel better. People here, most of them, knows what they are saying and are good thinkers. A jerk wouldn't last in this place, because it would bore him because not many would take his bait.
I happen to notice that in gaming sites, there are so many arrogant people. I have not surfed any particular gaming site where the members can chat or anything, but i hear a lot of conflict stories about them from my boyfriend.

You are absolutely right,Aja.I have not joined Facebook, nor am I going to join it ever in my life.People say it's a useful site, but I think,it is more harmful than useful.I want to express myself and that's why I am here in this extraordinary site.I know I can voice all my emotions here including my hate and anger for someone, but I have learned here to be polite.Mylot is certainly a site that does not have an equal.

I haven't been around in other websites, but I'm pretty much content being here in facebook. Making money here is just part of the fun i am having in this good website. We all love mylot, otherwise we wouldn't be here. If we don't love mylot, we won't last here ahah.
Yeah, well, I have not been facebooking much so i don't encounter that many jerks online. And on mylot, it's rare to find jerks.

It can be so annoying when you see people rant all the time on Facebook. I just want to scream : facebook is NOT a diary! or even: Get over it already! LOL. I agree. I tend to vent a lot more on MyLot than I do on any other site. Mainly because I like the anonymity that comes with it, but also because I don't need all of my friends & family knowing about problems I am having on a day-to-day basis.
Happy MyLotting!

rather than ranting, it is best to talk about it privately with a group of friends who are able to understand you and keep those feelings of yours within the group, not spread it. also, if there's a family problem, there should be a serious discussion about it where the family members will share their feelings and opinions.
easier said than done, though.

I agree that if you need to rant and blow off a little steam, then it is better to do it here than on Facebook. Here, you can be anonymous if you choose, and your rants really do not hurt anyone. They can allow you to reduce some stress and perhaps get some different ideas on the subject, though, so you might be able to look at the situation from a different perspective and possibly even see the other side, which will allow you to cope a little better.

I really do not know the answer. It still depends on the people we meet. Facebook? Hmmmmm… maybe, but I have never experienced that, because I am not a facebook addict. I seldom visit facebook.
I visit myLot, but I also do not want to rant on something here on myLot and I guess, all kinds of PTP and social networking sites are not perfect, because the way I see it is just always the same. Nothing changes.
For me, if we rant here on myLot is that some people might rate you negatively if they do not like it. Some people here on myLot. Some will support you, and because there is a guideline that we should be good to our myLot members, some members will rate you negatively if they do not want the written discussion all about, even if it is just a rant.
So, I guess, it is still depends and it is always the same to other sites, and nothing changes.

You have a point. We can't expect everyone to agree with us. But I don't think that is a reason to back out if we think we have to express something that other people might understand and reflect on. It helps other people think too. Well... ranting is... maybe different people have their own way of ranting. My ranting is harmless I believe so I'm not worried about being rated negative. Besides, being liked is not my priority.
It really all comes down to what kind of person we are and what we do in order to help ourselves better without offending anyone.

I don't just agree with you - I completely agree! I don't really use Facebook but many companies and employers now use it like a sort of background or profile check on you. Personally, I don't agree with this measure since I consider Facebook or other networking sites as private. Also. the popularity of Facebook (compared to other networking sites) contributes on why it is one of the highest sites to check on a person's online activity and personality. Granted that we should always watch what we post or communicate online but every person has their own definition of privacy. Some people like to post or upload things that they think is no consequence but might affect their future conditions. Also, even vague ranting can be interpreted in many different meanings.
I guess compared to Facebook, mylot is safer because it is really not that famous and more people are inclined to read and understand first before posting anything, Also, soem people here are more understanding that the post is rant rather than other means of online actiity.

Haha, that could cause trouble but sometimes we have this sadistic tendencies like wanting to fight publicly on facebook. Hopefully it won't be that serious. My boyfriend gets to argue with a lot of people on facebook since he is an admin for some group. He's rather pissed at annoying members so he makes sure he gets rid of those so called 'bad apples' so as not to poison his bunch of healthy apples(means good members of the group he is administering) hehe

Exactly! Very well said my friend. I'd rather voice out everything here in MyLot rather than in Facebook. I am not very open with my feelings to everybody. I'd rather keep it to myself. However, when I joined MyLot, it is very different now because I am free to express my feelings here unlike in Facebook. I still have doubts sharing my thoughts to people whom I know.
Beautiful discussion. Thanks!

You are right my friend. Here in my mylot, we feel that people here understands us more. I trust sharing or ranting here because I get positive reactions or responses from mylotters. Facebook is a different things because we know the people there. In mylot, personal information is limited.

There are many people here who share our feelings or at least try to understand us. On facebook... it's like, if you are not trying to be one of us then you are definitely out. Facebook works differently, but it certainly isn't a site where people can rant or post something like they would write on their diaries. hehe

because mylot people actually bother to read even the longest post just to understand the person who set up the discussion. in facebook, i think most of the people there are is in a hurry for some reason, procrastinating mostly or just bored so they play games, post things and annoy a lot of people.

Heheh I would say so too!
On MyLot we are rather more (or are at least able to be) anonymous, whereas on Facebook it's like you say where everyone (presumably) that you have added knows your personally. I think it could probably be quite awkward as well, perhaps there are some friends out there who you don't want to know all the details of what is going on exactly in your life. It is certainly the case for me that if I do feel like a good rant about the bad things in life - I won't normally do it on Facebook . Perhaps you'll be seeing something of the like from me here on Mylot one of these days .

the good thing about mylot's system is that we can opt to ignore it. It's not like facebook, where updates are shown right in front of our faces even though we don't want to read about it. LOL. Rant as much as you want, no one will hate you for it here. just hope that there is no troll around this website.

i feel the same way. i hardly ever use facebook, but my daughters are addicted my oldest is really bad to put her whole life history on facebook when she gets upset
she dont care what she says... since she dont live with me i use it to spy on her
if you will.. but i usualy hate what i read.. as her life is not in good standing right now and i read the crap she writes and try and tell her not to do that, that to me means everyone will see all her faults.. and i just dont air my life public like every ,move i make, im kind of a private person..

I just tend to save the ranting for my own personal blog during the few times where I do in fact feel compelled to rant about something online. Granted, I'm sure that there is no shortage of things to really rant about, but I really would tend to put it in a place where people are going to have to go a bit out of their way to see those things.
But I do agree, Facebook is a really bad and unfortunate place to go on a rant. Especially considering the fact that I'm sure many people would like to take back what they have said hours after it is posted. But alas, it is just something that is too late. It does make me cringe to see a lot of the personal things that are posted, anywhere for that matter. But some people obviously have no problems with their personal grievances being aired over the Internet.

I totally agree with you! Posting these kinds of stuff about our emotions
on Facebook will just look like we just want attention and sympathy from our
friends and other people. But whenever we post it in Mylot, even though
we're all strangers here, it feels like we can understand one another more,
there are no judgements about our feelings and emotions and the good thing
is it's not embarrassing because they don't know us personally!
