Hi everyone!
I don't remember what the last update I gave was. I am in the middle of the third cycle right now instead of number 4 because of delays. I have had low white counts every time I am supposed to go for the day 8 treatment. The first cycle I had two delays (one because of a bladder infection). I have another CT coming up after next week's treatment and they will decide whether they will continue the current treatment or try something else. At least right now my numbers are stable rather than continuing to go up. Talk to you later.

I hope that things are a bit better now, sorry it took me such a long time to respond to the discussion, is just I haven't had any time to myself. I am glad to hear that at least things were stable and I hope that they have improved now and your treatments are current and not behind.

The latest is not the greatest. I was admitted to the hospital again today after not being able to get enough fluids in over the past few days. I was supposed to have a CT scan yesterday, but wasn't able to drink the contrast and so on. See the new post for more details. I hope you are able to have more time to yourself now. Have a great week!!!

I am so sorry to hear that things didn't go well and that you were admitted to the hospital. I do hope you feel better and hopefully you could get the CT Scan as soon as possible. I will definitely be looking for your new post, I guess you can say I was playing catch up with my discussions, that why it took me so long to respond. I will definitely have you in my prayers and wish you fast recovery and hope you feel better :).

Thanks for the encouragement. It really means a lot to me when I am feeling bad. I will try to keep thinking positive, but with all the problems I have been having this time around it is really getting hard. I am working on a post about the current situation right now. Stay tuned...

Hi, I was thinking of you the other day. Knowing that Red Cross is out helping in Texas brought you to mind. I am giving platelets quite often right now, in addition to whole blood, because the Hospital called Red Cross and told them my platelets were doing really well for a particular cancer patient. It was exciting. I do not know if that person is still getting my platelets, but since I am healthy and able to do this, I will continue. Is there anything to give you to help your white counts? I think of all my friends and my little sister when I give blood. Have a great Easter.

After the last cisplatin treatment, I was given a neulasta shot that was supposed to help, but it apparently was the gemzar (I get that both day 1 and day 8 each cycle) that was causing the low counts. The doctor told me last Monday that she might lower the dose on one of the medications in order to make the situation better, but she wasn't sure which it would be or if she would just change to a new regimen. The CT scan will probably be the deciding factor. I guess I will wait and see. I hope all is going well for you. I won't be going to Texas because of being in chemo, but I am doing whatever I can here to get our disaster services up to par. Happy Easter!

Sorry for being out of touch for so long! I have been really busy with class and not feeling well. I guess what I can do is pm you with contact info if you want. Just let me know. I know I had given the info to someone at one point, but I think it might have been when I was at the motel and it was someone else. I do hope things improve soon. Happy Easter!!!

Hi Debbie,
I have missed seeing you around. I´m glad that chemo is working although those delays due to low white cell counts are irritating. There are some shots they put me after the second chemo that get them up, but I had to buy them with my own money and the were expensive. It seems tha no insurance understands of extra needs for cancer patients.
Please keep us posted on your treatment and on what you are doing. Take care!

I am so glad that medicaid takes care of all of my medical needs. If I had to pay cash for anything, I wouldn't be getting any of it. I hate insurance companies because they don't care about anything but the almighty dollar and profit. I will try to do better about getting in here a little more often. I am still about 5 months behind on reading old posts. It is hard when I have schoolwork to do all the time. Happy Easter!!!
