and found that it really gave me something to think about. Essentially, it said we who work often have to take drug tests before getting a job and a paycheck. From that paycheck taxes are taken and distributed however governments see fit. Yet, those receiving welfare from the taxes we have to pay from the money we make from the job we have to take drug tests to get, do NOT have to take drug tests before getting the welfare.
So, when our politicians are bemoaning the fact that some states want drug testing for welfare recipients and saying how beastly and unfair such a thing would be, perhaps I shall remind them that to work and provide that welfare, I often have to take drug tests to get the initial job. No one thinks THAT is unfair.
Do you want a job you must take a drug test for? Do you want to supply taxes that go to people who are NOT required to take drug tests?
What was the last job you had that required it or does require it every so often?

bi mysticmaggie, what a great eye opening post...you are so right
in your concerns and thoughts...I had never thought about it in
that way but it is oh so true...and I don't blame the receipents
its certainly the government...
That welfare system has had some of the worst rules and regulations
ever...It does so much good in one way but the way the system is
regulated is horrendous....

The 'system' is the people and only the people can stop the way any program is regulated. We do that by tossing people out of office after no more than two terms. We also insist that no politician gets to retire at our expense. They get a salary while in office and go to work somewhere else after two terms where they can work for a retirement like the rest of us. They get health insurance like other government workers while in office, but it stops once they are out. And all the other perks end after two terms, too.
As long as we are too lazy to vote for new blood every two terms, we keep getting those who are corrupted back in and sadly, we get what we asked for.
