Fashion is the way someone expresses oneself (i.e through garments to create a self-image). Trend is a fashion that's been made popular among people. We have fashion icons for that. They start wearing something new, people would adapt or copy. Not all fashion can be a trend. But trend is always fashion.

fashion is a way to express one's self, through what you wear (clothes, accessories, hair makeup etc) It is about what, where, when and how do you wear it all together..while trend is the latest fashion inspired by the runway and the designer latest collection at a precised time. you can say, trend is the part of fashion..they can't go separately. Fashion makes trend and trend makes fashion..

'Fashion' refers to the current popular style in clothing, footwear, hair styling and beauty products. 'Trend' describes the direction in which things are going, so, in relation to the fashion industry, it implies looking into the near future to see what is becoming or will become fashionable. 'Fashion' may also be used as an adjective or a noun to describe the whole fashion industry, including the media support for it. Used as a verb, it means to make something with a certain amount of crafting and artistic skill ("The jeweller has fashioned a beautiful brooch from the pendant my grandmother left me.")

Well to me something fashionable usually goes to something that looks good but a trend is something that a lot of people wear it without meaning that it looks good too :P
