So I bought my daughter a ds for her birthday,he is 7..But she also got leap pad explorer. She plays with the leap pad more but my son has picked up playing the ds and if not stopped he will play the ds non stop all day long..the only game he plays though is the mario games..Now I know hes kinda young to be playing the ds,but his father is into halo on the 360 so its like the lesser of the two evils...
I dont know if im doing good by letting him play the ds or bad.. I dont let him play all day long. Only in 1 hour incraments but still..I just feel like Id rather him be playing mario as innocent as it is compared to halo which no kin should be playing period.......
What are you views on video games for kids? what age would you say is ok?

I want to get the connect so bad! I hear it is much better then the wii! But I dont want them to be spoiled..they dont need every console available. Not that I dont want them to have this stuff I do,but I think giving them everything will ruin them...

My main thought of why I think Kinect, Wii or even Move on PS3 are good for kids is cause they allow them to move and they can use it to dance, play some sports games like tennis or baseball etc. I think that Kinect and Move are better than Wii (at least on graphics and gamelists) though I think that wii is a little more "partying" console making it more suitable for kids. Now about spoiling, I think there must be a different post about it :P hehe

My brother and I started playing video games at around 6 or 7, and for my brother it was a good thing because he knew how to drive before I did and he was a much problem solver than I was. Not say that I couldn't do those things too, but I think video games helped him more than it helped me.

Yea,some games can be good in teaching children, but some can have the opposite effect.that is why I do not stress so much with mykids playing mario because it has no violence and such in it compared to the video games there are out there in the world....my daughter has the leapad and almost every game you can buy for it teaches them math or science or reading or writing but for the nintendo ds,its just the opposite. I lookd up game for it yesterday and must have went through 100 but none of them were educational, just regular old games....thanks for commenting:)
