I was watching tv and this ad came on and it made me start thing of this question. Have you ever take a flower and pulled of its petals and each one you pull of you said he/she love me, he/she loves me not? Has that ever turned out to be correct when you land on he/she the person you like actually loves you?
I did this in the past when I had a crush on boys but it never turned out to be true if I landed on he would love me. I never tired it with my husband but then again I really don't need to do that since I'm with him and I do love him. I think its a silly game that we kind of play with ourselves as little kids/young adults.

No,I have never done so.We have a small garden just in front of my house. You will see there trees of fruits and plants of flowers.I love watching them and enjoying their beauty, but I never pluck them from their trees. In my opinion, flowers look beautiful when they are smiling on the branches.Once plucked, they lose their beauty.I think,God wants them to blossom on brances.

Okay well the question wasn't about your families garden and actually flowers were meant to be picked or else they wouldn't be able to be admired by others around the world if you weren't able to send them to someone you do love. You can't bring a garden to a person if they live far away. Flowers on trees don't last forever flowers that grow can be grown all year around.

I don't know how George Bernard Shaw isn't and probably wouldn't care to much about him since his life has nothing to do with my own. If someone doesn't want to pick flowers that is fine but if they have never played the game then they wouldn't know what its really about. Its a game like any other game. Flowers have nothing to do with children and there heads being taken off. There is no correlation a flower is a flower and if to many flower then something isn't doing its job. Like animals aren't eating, which then means we die since we aren't getting the right stuff for our bodies. A garden and one flower two ever different things. Like I said they have nothing to do with each other your families garden and a childhood game that many children play. Its clear you never played it as a child probably because of where you live in the world.

I never counted them either I would play the game or well just pull them off for the fun of it. I don't like many flowers so the ones that I pull apart where ones that I didn't like.

I like them and I like looking at them but to me they aren't as personal as other gifts. I see it as like get well I like you but not really I love you or I want you or I was really trying to think of something to get you. I know hubby when there is a certain thing coming up where he needs to get me a gift he'll ask me what I want. Some times I tell him flowers are okay like my birthday, or mothers day even valentine and other wise then that just time with him is the perfect gift. Other wise then that chocolate or something not to expensive I know we can afford I'll tell him about.

Do you still use flowers?
There are more modern tools that can be used nowadays as you can see here:

Ah but that wasn't concerning the uses of flowers at all. It was about what we use to know whether 'he loves me or he loves me not'. Never mind.
Oh and I prefer not to pull the flowers to bits. I can't stuff 'em and bake up once they have lost their original shape
Much better results with M and Ms and you can cheat if it is not going the right way, by eating one

You didn't answer the question and the answer to yours is yes I still use flowers. I get them from my husband every now and then as a sign of him loving me. Also flower can be used to bake or eat with depending on the flower. Sun flower seeds are used to be eaten.
Sorry I'm not looking at someone else discussion on uses of flowers because I don't care what other uses of flowers are in the world it wasn't a question asking about other uses of flowers but a game that children still play these days.

I do remember seeing that in movies but I do not know where it originated and when. And also I think I did the same thing when I was a little. I am not sure, now you can see the effect of media influence. We do things we saw in tv and not questioned it much especially when we are young that is why it is important to supervise kids when watching tv. :D I do think there is no bases in pulling a flowers petals.. Poor flower:(

I didn't ask where it started from. Just asking a question if you ever played the game as a kid. Actually this game is never on the tv. I have never seen this game in a movie and if I didn't I didn't pay much attention to. A lot of kid games make it in to movies years after the game has started. Like Ring around the Rosey that was a child's song during the black pledge every little kid knows it and its not that often seen in any movies but when it does it doesn't mean it started there. Same with duck duck goose, tag a lot of games end up on tv because its starts with the people first. Things that are on tv starts from us the people doing ever day life that just checks on.
Can't feel sorry flower its going to die anyways weather you pull them, pluck them, run them over, animals eat them, or we will eat them. Its part of life its going to die can't feel sorry for things that when we are all going to die one day.

Yeah it was fun and cute doing it when we were kids. Doesn't make sense now doing it if you are at least 18 ;)

I don't think there is an age limit to when it isn't or isn't okay do to at anymore. I don't see what being the age of 18 has to do with the age. I haven't played that game since middle school. I think I played it like 2 times in middle school before I was 14 years old.

I used to like to play this silly game when I was a child. I would pull the petals of the flower and try to make it come out the way I wanted it to come out. I especially liked to use the michaelmas daisy, as it had lots of petals.

I never tired to get it to come up with what I wanted it to be. But that was a long time ago I don't play games like that no more.

I would pick a flower. Flowers are meant to be picked if we don't pick them, then an animal will eat them so in all the flower lives up to course of it's life. It doesn't have any feelings how can something with out a brain, or heart feel.

I would not be likely to pull the petals now, too, because I would not want to cause to harm the flower. However, if I found an uprooted flower with petals, it might be fun to do this thing.

yeah, once we did those things because we could not help do it. we wanted to know the feelings and outcome of our tremendous desire to get closer and be with the apple of our eyes. and when i did that, i jumped or skipped so that it would end up that my crush loved me. ha ha ha.. it was a childish act, and as a result, i was not able to have her.

Yeah, but when we where younger it sure was fun to do and thinking back I think it was a much needed thing to know what love really is and isn't. Learning what is lust and what is love of a person that will love you back.

I remember doing this as a child all too well, but it isn't something that I have done since I was an adult. I believe that the reason that I haven't done it is because of the fact that I'm an adult now and there is no reason at all that I need to do something like that at this stage in my life.
With that said, I think that it would just be coincidence if it was right because it is nothing but an old wive's tale.

As I said it is a silly game that children play. I haven't played that since middle school. As we get older games like that just have no meaning in our lives any more. But its fun to watch our own kids go through that stuff as they grow up.

It is a silly game.
The idea of the fact that you love life depends on the number of petals of a flower is absurd in my opinion, even funny.
I saw that in movies, I don't remember trying it but I like to think that it's really not that important in my love life.

I never said love life its a kids game so of course its absurd now that you look at it but when you where kid it wasn't like many things when we are child it doesn't seem absurd like blowing out our birth day candles to make a wish, wishing on stars, making a wish when you find and eye lash, picking up heads up penny's lots of things are absurd when your and adult.
I never said it was important and the question wasn't asking if it is or isn't important the question was did you play it and if so did you get your way and end up with that person for what ever amount of time it might have been.
Of course you don't remember doing it so I'm going to say no you never played the game so no you never ended up with the person that you had a crush on or liked as a kid.
