As most people know, odesk adopt Auto-tracked time with oDesk Team application to record our hours working for clients. What i want to ask is to make the odesk team application functional, have i open my webcam whenever i work on odesk? Well, i think it will be inconvenient for me. If the answer is yes, have i put he webcam to the direction of my mouse? Look forward to answers from people familiar with odesk, thanks!

I think it is not really necessary to open webcam when you are working on an hourly priced job on oDesk. What is important is your screenshot, for clients to know that what you are really doing is the job and not something else. You can also try to ask your client if they require to open the webcam when you work. My client in oDesk doesn't care if I have webcam or not as long as I do the job. :)

You mean even we don't open the webcam, the screenshot can also be done with the auto-track hours?

Thanks, jvincent. Yes, i am now working on my frist job. it is hourly priced job. but since i have not install oDesk Team application, i can't track my working time for the hourly priced job. Have you been worked in odesk? If you do, how do you auto-track your working hours. as odesk says as following: Although both auto-tracked and manual time on hourly contracts bills automatically to clients, only auto-tracked time qualifies for the oDesk Payment Guarantee. The time is awarded to clients when they file a dispute against manually added time. It is recommended that contractors use the oDesk Team application to auto-track their time, with adequate memos, activity levels and snapshots in order for guaranteed payment. please have a look at the following links, you will know a webcam is needed in auto-track one's time. https://kb.odesk.com/questions/832/How+do+I+auto-track+time%3F https://kb.odesk.com/questions/244/I+do+not+want+to+show+my+face+when+I+log+time.+How+can+I+disable+the+camera+feature+on+the+oDesk+Team+application%3F++

I think you have to talk to your client about that issue. Most of my jobs are at fixed rate. When I accept an hourly job, I would suggest to my client if we could have manual time because I dont have a webcam. Although this is not a payment guarantee, it's still up to the client if he pays or not. You can choose manual time and have a mutual agreement to the clients that he will pay. But also be careful there are also clients who will not pay. So it's important to look at the client's history and reputation in applying for a job. Same here goes for the clients, they wont give so much trust on newbies because it might be possible that the contractor is a just a scam. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions :)

You are right. I think it rest on many things. I just worry about that because odesk says only auto-track hours are guranteed
