Hello everyone,
So I recently joined a great weight loss program, and I'm wanting to help many people including those that are morbidly obese. I know for some they can barely get up out of a chair, or even out of bed because their weight has them so very limited on how they can move physically.
Does anyone know of so exercises that people in these situations can do, that are not to strenuous on the joints yet effective enough to help them build strength and burn a few calories?
I'm very excited about this opportunity and I want to be prepared to help people in many situations. Thanks :)

swimming, Swimming is an exercise that burns calories without straining your joints, if you cant swim, walking and crawling in a kiddie pool will do. Then there is Yoga, well if you can afford Yoga lessons or at least a Yoga DVD that would do. There are also chair exercises, those are workouts people can do while sitting. those are the workouts I can suggest by far.

Swimming is terrific but for those that can barely get out of their chairs, beds, etc... for them to even get to a swimming pool is a major challenge if it's even possible. Yoga I'll have to try that myself.. I've heard it's really good for your muscles and structure even with all the stretching.
Chair exercises now that's a good idea :) I will have to do some searching on that.
Thank you for the ideas. Much appreciated. I'm writing a list of suggestions not only for myself but for all those I would like to help. :)

Happy Easter...olydove!
I could NOT...nor would NOT suggest ANY exercises for morbidly obese, as there are SO many serious health issues at play here! YOU are doing great, with your enthusiasm, dearheart....BUT I would really like to caution you, to not proceed with people of these configurations without guidance from a certified Dr. I make this suggestion with your best interests at heart. There are some things that are broken, that you just can't fix...and I am really, really concerned that the "morbidly obese" is an area that you cannot, should NOT tread upon. There is a HUGE current of underlying conjoined health issues present, that you cannot foresee! This is an area BEST left to the professionals. PLRASE, please understand...I applaud ALL your great efforts!

Happy Easter to you as well my friend :)
You are so right and it is very true that ones doctor would be the best choice for exercise suggestions. The problem is some people don't have insurance so they can not go to the doctor. I have learned a few things such as using a can of vegetables as a weight to do arm exercises, and any movement even while sitting down just lifting your legs here and there is good.
Sorry that it's been so long for my response I looked for this discussion last time I was one ( which was a long time ago ) and couldn't find it? I don't know if it was a mylot glitch or what lol!

obesity must be a night mare for most people , obviously, it surely did much trouble and harm to those people . as far as i know, jogging is the best choice when losing weight.,and the key is that you should do it regularly.
